When a student/athlete is signed as a PWO, does that mean he is not worthy of a scholarship, or could it be that he (parents) are financially in a situation where a scholarship is not needed? Maybe would rather have the school use that scholarship to bring in another student/athlete.

no scholarship but player/staff may feel the player has the ability to work their way into a scholarship. A lot of the PWOs are true love of the game kids with the plan of working hard , enjoying the process, sitting courtside as a spectator in nearly every game as well as hoping that they improve enough to get a scholarship in the future.

I am a big believer that part of a successful program includes significant energy towards PWOs and walk-ons. They have become very important given the new robust transfer era where multiple scholarships on any given year are utilized but the player(s) are not eligible .... aka ISU the past couple of years. Malcolm seems to check the box as a good pwo/addition to the team.

The kid sounds like a good addition especially as a PWO, and I'll be interested to see how he plays at the D1 level. I'm never opposed to having walk ons sign on to the team.

Welcome Malcolm! Go Birds!

I have been a bit out of the loop. I like this signing. He is a scorer and we don't have to teach him how to shoot. That program just has not worked for us. I am hoping he can be a Northern Iowa type player for the Birds. Welcome Malcolm! GO REDBIRDS!
