I am hoping for a big with D1 experience but he does look smooth in the post. Needs to learn to stay big when setting a pick.

Not trying to be facetious but, think about the offense the Birds run. When was the last true pick you’ve seen? Will Ransom on Ron Baker? I know there’s been others but the Birds “bigs” tend to stand there like their setting a screen and then roll right before making any contact (which is why they get call for so many moving screens).

That said, this kid reminds me of a typical UNI type big (Tuttle, Phyfe, at least one of the Kochs). Touch around the rim with the ability to knock down jumpers. I’m guessing if UNI hadn’t brought their whole team back, they’d be interested as well.

The only one was the Ransom on Baker. It would be nice if they could learn how to do that. He looks more coordinated than Duce and had that shift touch. Good call on the UNI guys. He does play like a typical UNI big which means he plays with some skill. One of the articles I read from the Des Moines register said UNI and Drake would be offering of they didn't bring back their teams so that says a lot.

Anyone shocked Benson was paying attention and retweeted this?

Agree Woodland - Alston tends to be the forgotten guy at times.

Getting a guy like Schmitt is real solid. Nice to have a guy who takes up space. Guessing Ryan won't be the quickest
but he looks the part of a big with a back to the basket game.

My biggest concern now that we now have Tony and the new Asst. to enhance the guys' skills........as they bring our team along
nicely in the skill development areas - Ryan like some haven't used their Transfer "chip". We build em up and they leave. More reason
for Muller's Staff to concentrate on building camaraderie. Winning should address that as we all know.

Welcome Ryan Schmitt!

Summer development will be huge for these guys and the coaches which did not happen last year.
