The greatest Cardinals pitcher of all time has died at 84.

In 1968, he had a 1.12 ERA, 28 complete games with 13 shutouts. 54 consecutive shutout innings. He was so dominant that MLB lowered the mound by 6 inches.

He was a Golden Gloves boxer, and a Harlem Globetrotter when they were NBA calbre. Same time as Wilt.

Bob & Lou within a month. Fuck you, 2020.

Joe Poz has a great piece, but I can't link from my phone.

Sad day ... great memories ... when I met him in Florida, and the battles with Jenkins were mentioned, he got a big smile, and said '...and I always won.' Rest In Peace, Mr. Gibson.

Gibson and Brock were two of my earliest idols. Gibson was as fierce a competitor as you could find. I loved watching him pitch. And I loved watching Brock run. Great Cardinals. Sad time for Cardinal Nation. RIP to both.
