This is Reeves' competition . . .

To be fair to Reeves this might not be all about getting in the NBA, if he goes to the Professional Basketball Combine (a secondary draft combine in late May) he can get noticed by not just NBA GMs but also G-League and Overseas scouts/personnel. I think Tone has a less than 1% shot of getting drafted or making the NBA, but he'd likely make really good money playing in Euro Leagues.

Could be about building his stock like Elijiah Clarence for a trip to Europe. I would like to see him come back.

So as a client is Reeves paying for being evaluated and player development or is this group hoping that he will pay for their services as a client in his professional career?

Most of the team is back on campus. Reeves is still working out in Florida.

Not surprising but Reeves was not invited to the NBA G-league camp in Chicago.

That's gotta be a wakeup call - heck you're not even getting invite to best Euro Leagues - so stick out another year - show you can dominate in Valley and oh yeah play defense and then see how it goes after that

3 point shooting at 30 to 31% first two year does not translate well to the PRO game. He improved on taking the ball to the rim last year but he has to hit at a much higher clip for consideration of playing in higher level Pro league abroad.

He needs to gain strength and consistency, and double down on defense. His name's not in the portal (yet). He hasn't been selected to participate in the draft camp. Seems he'll be coming back . . . but why do I have such a strong doubt that will happen? And it has nothing to do with our head coach, much as some will want to make that the reason.

Something just feels like Reeves is intent on turning pro . . . somewhere . . . somehow . . . kinda like Rico Hill, but not as close to being 'ready' for being a pro.

Perhaps Elijah Clarence was the name you were looking for? I remember some interviews with EC after he committed and he felt he could be a 1-and-done player. Some kids just want to chase money regardless of what route might be the best. Maybe his best route would be going overseas and just getting pro experience in some capacity. If you can play D1 ball, there is a chance for you overseas. Not a knock on either of these players but Jaycee Hillsman put up MVP-like numbers in a Finland league. Will Tinsley has signed a couple of overseas contracts as well. Of course, they were both older players and more physically pro-ready, but just examples of the opportunity available for players who did not necessarily put up gaudy numbers in college.

Getting into the mind of a 20 year old...if you tell me I can either go back to college to continue my "development" or go make money overseas and "develop" through that way, it'd make me think twice.

I think he comes back, but wouldn't blame him either way doing what he feels is right for him.

A quick diversion...I always thought Hillsman was under-appreciated. There was a flashy "me firster" on that team that stole the spotlight.

Agreed. I've had conversations before that Jaycee would have been a GREAT role player on the 16-17 team. He would've been that guy off the bench that could spell Hawkins, McIntosh, or Wills, really.

So, if he doesn't remove his name, does that mean he's decided to not return?

If he does not remove his name, it means he has declared himself as a professional free agent decided to stop playing ball at the collegiate level anywhere. He isn't in the transfer portal, right? He just declared for the draft.

If he doesn't pull his name out he is foregoing his eligibility regardless of his draft status, I believe.

I know the NCAA proposed a rule change in 2018 that would allow a player to return if he was not drafted, by telling the AD the Monday after the draft, however if I'm not mistaken it required a rule by the NBA that would say collegiate players that are undrafted cannot be signed as free agents for one year after the draft, to prevent players from being signed away mid season, and I don't believe the NBA put such a rule in.
