Sitting in my car getting ready to head home after another embarrassing performance by ISU at Arch Madness. We can say we are young and make whatever excuses.

UNI is young as well and I don’t think I’ve ever seen in person one team so physically outmatched as we were tonight. We either need our players to find the weight room or find better player.

A sad pathetic chapter
Surely you are not blaming the officials for this loss? If not, why even mention it? It had zero bearing on the outcome of this game.
Did you hear me blame the officiating? Saying it was bad is not saying that’s why we lost the game. As stated above, missing too many open shots was the reason for the loss..

They called two flagrants! Make a shot and we might win this game.

Other than the fact that golden state has won 3 nba championships in the past decade and have had steph curry and klay Thompson, then yes this is similar.
It's the philosophy, unfortunately we have Klay Curry and Steph Thompson. Didn't say we were good at the offense we were attempting to run. Just said it was the offense the kids are seeing and wanting to play in. I prefer true basketball where you play inside out. But gone are the days of True Big men, which is why when a team has a guy 6'10" and he can pass, we all complain why can't we find that big man. Mahorcic got better, through the season. Unfortunately he's a Jr. We needed to have that in a Freshman to develop with the rest of the 4/5 guards we have. And then a true 6'10/6'11 Sr big man to distribute from the post or high post.

The problem is Muller has 3 years to find and develop this max. That’s assuming he can keep all of his other pieces together...which is highly unlikely based on the last 5 years history starting with Hawkins and McIntosh! That means we are looking at the next three years of probably .500 best!

LOL. I know you said at best but Muller will never come close to .500 again.

I don’t think that’s fair, they could be .500 next year, or with better assistants competitive maybe top 4. But ultimately Dan isn’t very likely to get us to the NCAAS even with better assistants unless we were decent and had the matchups fall off In our lap the way they did for BU last year. There is no way Dan is building a program like Moser has at Loyola. That’s what is frustrating, with Dan the best you could hope for is to get lucky 3 games in St Louis one year.

The definition of insanity...doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Nine years.

Was it just me but Dan's body language last night resembled a white flag. He only showed emotion when he was mad. He never had this team and it shows.

I was mad when Donewald was let go. Mad when Stallings left. Mad when Jank left. I’ll be happy when Dan goes.
I need to add, I was OK when Jank left. Also, I was ecstatic when they hired Muller.
In a lot of ways I kinda feel like I imagine a Biden-voter must feel; that initial excitement has turned into the reality that what we really have is a pig with lipstick.

And this is the point....
It’s important that, going forward, we have a program that is built to compete, not a program that catches lightning in the bottle in the Lou to get the NCAA every once in a while.
although even that would be nice these days (i.e. decades)....

There was initial excitement for Biden? The only excitement was the fact that trump had been beaten. That is unless the Q nuts made trump president again as yesterday was March 4th.

Same here, not sad when Jank left as he made it clear he was here for a stop over. Scheduled like crap and took Nic Moore. And like you, I was thrilled when we hired Dan. Not so much elation when he signed the extension. Thank you, larry lyons.

Cali, you are correct. I hate to say it since I loved Muller as a player, he needs to be fired. I hope like heck they find a way to do it. I was just reacting to the over reaction that they would be as bad as this year the next 3 years if Dan was still here. Let’s all hope he isn’t here 3 years from now. 3 straight years of not Thursday is bad enough, but 3 straight of not even making to Friday sucks....

I was fine with Dan early on. He ruined some of his early seasons with his ego where the team got sick of him, gave up, and lost to terrible teams at arch madness (Missouri State and Indiana State). However, they had talented players so at least there was hope.

What annoyed me is I got the sense that Dan figured they would win in 2017 and he would get another job. Part of it was he lost his best recruiters and part of it was he didn’t work as hard recruiting because he didn’t figure he would be here. He tried to get the Dayton job and get out. However, you don’t get hired for a NIT bid.

So the contract extension was a huge bailout once he found out he was stuck. I’m sure he knew he didn’t have any talent coming up, but had a 7 year security net to try to win and leave.

Hmmm . . . would usurping every thread into a fire Muller thread--for literally years now--and not seeing a change be another example of insanity? Asking for a friend. ;)

There are no results to be had here. It's a fan message board. The threads/posts/words by any one here have no bearing on what might or might not happen. It's a collection of thoughts and feelings by Redbird fans. Nothing more, nothing less.

While the whole season was very discouraging, I was really displeased with the last 3 games. I will also agree there was some improvement from the beginning of the season, but not enough, in my opinion, to have much hope for next season.

The simple act of controlling the basketball either on the dribble or with a good pass is still a major problem. They really need JR High dribbling and passing practice on a daily basis. It was also discouraging to see Washington and Fleming go MIA after the Bradley game.

The only positive from the season from this fan's perspective is beating BU twice and having BU exit St. Louis before we did. Otherwise, for me, there was not much good from the season. I cannot realistically go into 21-22 and think some of these issues are going to be fixed and expect a much better outcome.

It is a sad time to be a Redbird Bball fan. Thanks Muller.
