Look ahead to the Bradley game. How are we going to defend guys like Childs and Henry inside, the Finnish 3 point shooter, and now they have a big Dutch guy who can make 3s. How does Wardle find these guys?
More about correct coaching. Wardle is a good coach. Not a great coach but a good coach. A great mid-major type coach. Much better than Muller. He isn't even a D1 coach. Maybe they'll want him at Chicago State because I can't imagine anyone wanting him as an assistant except as a return favor. Maybe you'll see him on the UIC staff soon...well, probably DePaul by that time.

Ok, you asked for it 😁, Childs really creates matchup problems- with his inside out game, he would just sit on the baseline against the zone they have been using and put Henry on opposite block. Child’s can either shoot or drive.

1)You probably need Dusan on the court for rebounds & points. To cover his defensive limits and acknowledging that Ndiaye is not a strong man to man defender and with their best performances being out of the zone this season, maybe they need to put both on the floor with Sissoko. Im less worried about their 3 point shooters than Childs/Henry(of course I haven’t watched them this year). So a 1-2-2 that the elbows have to aggressively drop down to help in the corner and we probably need point with length to be able to also drop down and play wing defense shift. So maybe Fleming at point and Horne is too small to be able to defend the wing and baseline drop, so Strong at shooting guard or

2) how good are their ball handlers? How about if we go all in on the 4 guard and go Shaka Smart on them if we are going to play 4 guards and use Ndiaye to play goal keeper on defense.

With #1, you have to install a new offensive scheme, with #2 not so much.

Same source that told you DJ Horne was transferring after last season?
Exactly, people don’t know what they are talking about on here. The Horne kid is a fighter and has proven himself in my book. Need more guys like him and a better front court. No one saw Fisher opting out but this shouldn’t fall on Horne shoulders to fix. It takes a team, not one player... it would be very interesting to see how things play out after the season!

Wow, really beginning to see your hate for the kid. Just yesterday he had 5 assists / 3 steals. Is everything wrong with this team Djs fault? Just wow!
I think we do him a disservice by putting him at point vs the shooting guard. He is one of our better if not best shooter. Assuming he continues to develop I would think having Fleming play PG setting up DJ would be a good combo.

If you have read my posts the entire season, I have been very critical of the lack of talent , depth, and production from the front court.

I will take a little different approach to playing BU. Both Childs and Henry have been a little more foul prone this year. My thought is to at least try to get the ball inside to Mahorcic and Sissoko and hope to draw fouls. Mast has been starting in place of the injured Boya, and he can be beaten inside. Sissoko may be able to draw a foul or two on Childs. Unfortunately we are horrible shooting free throws, so this may backfire.
Terry Nolan has been good overall for them, so if he can be kept in check it would help. They have been a little more turnover prone than in the past couple of years, so let’s pressure them in the backcourt and see if we can get them to throw it around/away a few times. Taveninen(sp?) has not been as good as he was last year so far and can be beaten off the dribble. Whom ever he is guarding needs to take him to the paint.
All this being said, it is going to take a great shooting night and rebounding with them to even stay close. They play very good defensively... very few teams have a good shooting percentage against them and they rebound very well.

Nothing personal, I respect your opinion and agree with most of your posts, Horne is a combo guard, playing the point. Can’t blame him for the many passes that reach our bigs only to turn into another missed opportunity. To his credit he runs the offense installed unselfishly. Our offense doesn’t have much action after the second pass , ball 🏀 stalls, etc.. you have been highly critical of our defense when he is on the floor vs when he isn’t. Last I checked, he leads the team in steals.....

Do honestly think DM will make the move.. Fleming at the point and Horne at the 2/3?

No PG since Lee. Like the cubs who refuse to add anyone who is a non power hitter. Need to be well rounded. Dan thinks he can run it out there with anyone and fails to bring in a true PG and this is year 4 since Lee

Whatever team he goes to, we should immediately schedule them for an easy “W”.

Did anyone think 3 years ago Bradley would be light years ahead of ISU? I mean, for chrissakes, we’re staring in the face of a likely a 20+ point beat down against a team that is not only our arch-rival, but a team many on this board we’re laughing at due to their complete ineptitude.
Instead Bradley had the balls to blow up their crappy program and focus on getting a hard-nosed coach with not only a PLAN, but the drive /desire to turn the Braves back into contenders.
Comical how crappy this Redbird program has become. Absolutely comical.

I was critical yesterday regarding Horne's energy. He looked tired ... probably because he played 34 minutes the day before. Just so its out there on the table ... I like DJ we need better pieces surrounding him.

Will Muller put Fleming at PG with DJ at the 2 ... I was hopeful this was the plan for the season. We all see flashes of what Fleming could be. I thought he played well yesterday. I think pairing him with Horne would be a good move. DJ can defend the quicker guard and Fleming can use his length to hopefully disrupt a shooter. Fleming can help with defensive rebounding which he has shown a knack for doing ... especially in the zone. He has the size to finish at the rim. I think if he develops his range on his shot he could be a real asset for ISU. I think DJ and Fleming would compliment each other well. I still like Reeves and the three of them should be the core and future of this team.

After watching those two games I must say most of you folks are right on spot. That was the worst looking team I have seen in the Valley since West Texas State annually way back when (except for the Mo Cheeks years). They play zero defense, rarely drive the basket, run nothing that resembles a pattern offense and can't shoot free throws ........ what else is there they can't do? oh yeah they don't like to rebound either. They sure did their best to make Greg Lansing look like the greatest since John Wooden but he did his damndness to let them back in it as usual. Redbird fans deserve a lot better than that as do our Sycamores.

The pieces fit in Bradley’s system. In stark contrast, we play helter skelter because we have no system. It comes down to coaching and recognition of need in recruitment. Of course that recognition is absent when there is no plan of what to put on the floor.

I would not be surprised if Boyd left as a grad transfer. The others would be disappointing to see leave. They along with Fleming show the most promise.

Is this speculation or do you have some insight.

Add flemming too. No I don't have insight I just can't see why anyone with real value would want to stay on a sinking ship and waste what will be their last few years of real organized basketball...of course a few will make it overseas.

Funny story about Bradley. Many ISU fans didn’t want Bradley to fire their coach! They were worried Bradley would get it right. They did!

You can't be seriously drawing a parallel to a coach building a program to a 9th year coach who is going in the wrong direction and only good years came with Oliver and Yak.
