A few things.
I think the big guy can go to just about any school that runs an odd front. A good nose is hard to find.
I think you may see Spack quietly go back to an even front next year.
I think this transfer stuff is trashing college athletics at our level.
Totally agree with all of it, especially the last.

BUT, on D, we have Hickox, the transfer FROM MInnesota. And Brandon Simon from Iowa. And Blake Fehrman from New Mexico. And Shannon Reid from Tennessee. So, at least in the short run, it's working both ways.

I hope this is about all of FCS and not just something going wrong with Coach Spack's program.

Illinois just got 2 down state kids to commit this weekend. Would not be shocked if John ends up in Champaign.

Ridgeway wont be in the Portal Long ! This is why you utilize even some of your 2's/3's to get that experience even when you up 21 pts to develop deep ! This one HURTS !
We utilized every D-lineman they thought could play. Even after the D-Line injuries Ridgeway didn't have to play that much. In the 2nd Q of the Western game back up NT Gomez subbed for him on consecutive WIU possessions. We also didn't play down linemen on 3rd and long situations. We used extra stand up linebackers to rush the QB. They had be doing that all season. The D-Line and RB were two positions that were consistently rotated.

DT is not a disaster. We go from great to very good. I expect Jacob Powell to return to nose tackle, his natural position, and Michael Gomez gives us a gritty 1-2 at NT. DE's should be Hickcox, Okolo and Dinga. After that Cross, McCall and maybe Fehrmann if he returns. That's a very solid group unless injuries chip away, but that can happen anytime to any position.

The loss of Ridgeway does hurt though. It would be easy to become bitter about this but I won't. I'll just thank Ridgeway for the time he gave us. Thanks John.

The transfer portal giveth and it taketh away. We need to at least break even. Noah Hickcox and Micah Jones should be really good additions. We need more. I watched a QB play tonight that I want. He hasn't put himself into the portal yet but I think he will. We shouldn't give up on anything while the carousel is still spinning.

I am extremely disappointed, I thought he was more loyal to the university than that. I hope he goes to SEC team or add ACC team

Ridgeway is getting early interest from Michigan State, Austin Peay, Duquesne, ULM (didn't Garret Hirsh transfer there?), lots from Arizona State (Herm Edwards follows), UCONN, Stoney Brook, Charleston, WKU, Texas State, LSU, Penn State, Hawaii, SELA, and Kent State. He's been in the portal less than 24 hours.

If he goes to AZ State, they owe us a H/H in football and basketball.

I'm not sure why but I think I'd pick Hawaii....something tells me that's a good place to play.

Interest from LSU...wow. That says it all.

The "kid" young man is special. Another small town kid that was overlooked and will play on Sundays. I wish him and his family nothing but the best. I agree I hope he goes big ten or sec and proves he is still as dominate.

LSU has done OK by Jabril Cox. He looks like he's going in the second round. Pelini stuck with the 3-4 last year and Tyler Shelvin looks to go pretty high. Of course, Ridgeway better make sure Pelini sticks to the odd front. He's been a 4-3 guy in the past.
Ridgeway plays with incredible leverage for a guy who's 6'6". He's got some good film on his Twitter.
What's the highest draft pick we've ever had? Estus Hood? Laurent Robinson?

Bo's on the street.

3rd round picks - Clarence Collins (#62 1984), Estus Hood (#62 1978), Dennis Nelson (#77 1969), Laurent Robinson (#75 2007).

I was gonna guess Boomer Grigsby, but he was a 5th rounder.

Why wouldn't he want to go and play with the other big boys. Hopefully the transfer portal brings an end to FCS DI-AA minor league and
so its a big FBS Division 1 or Division 2 or Division 3 or NAIA
This way at least we stand a remote chance of getting a berth to the playoffs when they expand to 8 and then 16 one day
Otherwise we at least get a bowl
Hello MAC unless the MVC wishes to try to poach Memphis, Tulsa, Arkansas State, Ball State, Northern Illinois and WKU to form a solid conference with UNI, SIU, SDakota State, NDakota State and Missouri State. A solid conference. Then Indiana State, WIU, SDakota, NDakota, Drake, Butler, Valpo and EIU can go D2

Now can I get my Kool Aid gif?

So the football program, has transferred seven players out of 75 on the roster compared to the basketball team that has already four and probably going to have five or six transfers out of a 12 man squad
Losing Ridgeway was horrible blow because he has no Integrity in my opinion I'm sorry for being a farm or he should stick to what he knows and who he does and where he stays I'm sorry do they say football is a disaster at this point just like a basketball team

This rule is designed to kill smaller schools. I no longer see the point of signing a letter of intent or enrolling in class at all. Why not just have every single athlete be automatically entered into the transfer portal every season and have it be an elaborate 300 team fantasy draft across all D1? That is exactly what this is now.

But what about those of us in the bottom 57 schools? ;)
