As much as it's a relief that the Valley is done with Krutwig, I agree that the 6'-10" back-up (who is only a freshman) will be a problem. I thought he pretty much held his own against Cockburn.

Technically this was a free year for Krutwig, so he could be back next year unless he elects to go pro.

I'm skeptical the third team all american who is getting another great look from scouts during another deep run in the ncaa tournament with a small school doesnt go pro. in fact i think he probably gets drafted in the late second round. however, if everyone else comes back i could see krutwig being one of the ones who would run it back but right now im betting against it.

I really hope Dan is watching Loyola's run very closely. If ISU is going to return to the upper half of the Valley DEFENSE will be the answer. Offense comes and goes but defense is always there, even on the road. Illinois's defense was very good but Loyola's was even better. This may mean that future recruits must be willing to play crushing defense. Some of us remember Bob Donnewald and the top notch (Bobby Knight) defense his teams played. The result was NCAA and NIT selections.

He has subtlety hinted that he is coming back regardless, via social media. That said, I think if he isn't being projected as a first round pick he will likely come back and build his stock some more.

he will never be a first round pick. 22/23 year olds very rarely are. Right now he isnt even predicted to be drafter in any mock. But, I think thatll change by the end of the month.

with that being said i would love for him to come back. honest, this is probably the most fun he will ever have playing basketball. you could see that when he strip donsuma yesterday. and, somehow, even if he gets hurt and can never play again he is the type thats going be alright. such a great rep of the Valley.

I agree 100%. He was loving every minute of that yesterday, and he is an excellent rep for the Valley. I hope he comes back for another year, and gives everyone in the NCAA tourney hell again.

that team will start the season in the top 10 if everyone who matters comes back. so they have to get the other senior back too. and probably end the year in the top 5 and possibly another final four. that might be the best team the valley has ever had in the modern era...or since larry birds INSU.

I think Krutwig coming back is more likely than Porter. But I suspect they will both return.

if krutwig comes back porter will wait another year just bacause he can. you cant leave a legit nation championship contender for a team that is most likely not even going to make the tournament because hes probably rebuilding it. being ranked front start to finish with a sweet 16 birth next season gives him more ammo. also, northwestern will probably be open after next season. i think porter is more northwestern type than depaul.

Just a reminder. The Birds offered the kid. Also offered Marquise Kennedy, a key cog in Loyola's team.

Muller (and staff) can identify talent and do it early. Closing has been an issue. Kennedy is glue guy that locks down on defense while Hutson has shown flashes of a Krutwig that can hit the three. They're going to be real good for a while.

I also don't see Krutwig as an NBA player. His age and lack of jumper works against him here. I think he's too small to be an NBA 5 and doesn't have the skill set of an NBA 4. He could make a whole lot of $$$$ playing overseas. He's going to go down as one of the best MVC players of all-time.

Doubtful. Not that they would not be deserving of it, but all of the P5+BE will have their new shiny toys coming in and the prognosticators will be focused on them. My guess is they may start out in the 20's.

Hypothetical with a Final 4 run and everyone comes back? They'll start in the teens for sure. If everyone does not return, 21ish.

Really good college basketball player. There’s a reason he’s still playing in college as a senior. He has serious next level limitations. Maybe the Bulls are looking for the next Tom Boerwinkle, but I doubt it.
That's funny. Boerwinkle is the comp who came to mind for me, too.

The Ramblers and Krut were underrated and under appreciated all season. Ken Pom had it right. These guys were real good.

Fts, fts, fts. You gotta hit the fts.
