free throws and offensive rebounding (1) still need work; any team with an inside presence will eat us alive

still, it is nice to get a true road win

Pretty much same thing happened as yesterday and it’s good to see this team weather the storm and finish strong. They earned this one playing D and hitting big shots late.

I think we saw a lot of improvement in the team from two weeks ago. Also saw a much more active and vocal bench. This team hasn't quit. Reeves was great today. Sissoko is much further along than I thought he would be. Dusan was really active today.

Strong made some nice mid range shots too. FTs drive me crazy. BUT A W IS A W! Especially on the road. Clearly reeves best game at ISU. I PARTICULARLY watched his stroke being an old coach. His follow thru was spot on.

Aces fan here! Congrats on the win, Redbird fans. Maybe some of you were thinking that your team might go 0-18 like the mighty Aces did last year, but that won’t happen haha. Aces fans were worried about this matchup because our slow white kids (who can shoot) like Frederking just don’t matchup with the quickness of Reeves, Horne, Strong, Boyd and so on.

Difference was free throws, despite our paltry shooting. Evansville shot just one free throw all game? At home?

I only saw one other Evansville game this year but it appears Givance is playing much better. I just don't remember him being that impactful the past two years.

The jump shooters have good form on their shots and nice rotation on the ball. The FT's will come. However, it is mind blowing that a college team can shoot 6 for 15 two days in a row at the line. I told my buddy ISU would win a few MVC games because they would shoot well a few times. Today was one of those days with 62.5% from the floor. Every day will not be like that. Let's beat Ind. State and have some fun. We are not a good team, but we can win a few games.

Yeah, he’s been our best player this year. He makes things happen. Samari Curtis is our most talented player, but he didn’t know how to handle the zone this series and was passive.

You have seen Northern Iowa & Southern Illinois. How do you think Illinois State matches up against them?

Well UNI just beat Bradley. UNI without Green and Kimmons has less talent than the Aces do, so thats a surprising result. Austin Phyfe killed us, but we don’t have a true 5. Mahorcic should hold his own against Phyfe. I am a big fan of Noah Carter. Heise and Born can shoot the three. If Illinois State defends the 3, a split is possible. SIU beat Butler, but in my opinion they could be a Thursday team. They are young like ISU. Brown and Harvey are not very good defenders. Their freshman center, Filewich, reminds me of Cameron Krutwig. Lance Jones is someone who can drive and get to the rim. He is the reason they beat us in the first game.
Obviously, Illinois State won’t shoot as well as they did today in every game, but I think they can be competitive like the Aces and COULD pick up 6+ wins. The key for both of our teams is if either team wins any surprising games. In a COVID season, anything is possible.

As a Redbird fan I think we know you don't get to the line very often when you play from the perimeter.
