Thank you for this post - enjoyed watching that as I did not live in this area
during those years; but have clearly heard all the superlatives of that group.
One takeaway - the announcer mentioned ball control was a Key to the Birds winning the game. Stated
Birds were avg. 18 to's / game. That sounds pretty high for a team 11 games in to their season and being a
strong program at the time.

Heck, no wonder Muller seems NOT to care about silly to's as his club's normally pretty loose with possessions. One
of my biggest hangups with Muller teams. Maybe all the teams he played on kicked the ball around a bunch too?????

That era often found themselves down at the half, and then would make a comeback in the second. One of those turnovers was generally a charge on Smiley on the first possession or 2 driving the lane. Probably why Stallings wasn't overly hot about TO #s, not sloppy play more out of aggression
