So it sounds like most states will not be having fall high school football this year. I just sat in a conference call for Illinois high school sports and football will be the last sport they allow this fall. Most school districts are not going to take on the health risk. I did ask if playing in the spring was a possibility and I was told this was not being considered at this time. I am wondering if that will hurt or benefit FCS schools and ISU. There are many players that have huge HS senior years. With a skipped high school season Spack and company might be able to pick up some more NFL caliber players.

So no Cross Country or Soccer this Fall just Football?

At the high school level for this coming fall Football will be the last sport that gets to play. The problem with non contact sports like golf and CC is they still have to transport the teams to the events. I am hoping they can figure something out. It sounds like a hard answer wont happen until around July 20th.

Most states?

I saw where the California State University System (not the University of California System) was not to play the fall sports because the Cal State System will be online. San Diego State University is already working on a "loop hole" to allow it to continue to play football.

Hopefully by mid-summer as more information comes in, the ridiculousness of some "proclamations" gets tossed aside and things get back to normal.

I say most states because I am in public education and I have spoken to colleagues in many other states that have been told the same thing about fall football. I will say it sounds like Iowa, Dakotas, Wyoming, Wisconsin, Montana, and Idaho are on track to play fall high school football( Could be more but those are states that I know of). Also, I agree I am hoping that the warm weather this summer makes things better and we can have fall sports. The question is when can they start practicing as football needs so many practices before they can play games. As for the California State Universities I am assuming you are correct and they will find a way to play in the fall. There is too much money that will be lost if schools do not play.

There's a rather major recruiting shift taking place. Like a lot of FCS programs ours has relied on a fair number of FBS transfers. In 2018, FBS recruits included OL Gabe Megginson - Illinois, DL Romeo McKnight - Iowa and QB Brady Davis - Memphis. All three have been starters and they are three of our most crucial players for the '20 season.
2019 was an even bigger year for FBS transfers. DL Blake Fehrmann - New Mexico, LB Aaron Mends - Iowa, WR Cole Blackmon - Virginia, OL Adam Solomon - Illinois and DL Brandon Simon - Iowa among the notables.
The 2020 recruiting class includes just one FBS transfer LB Shanon Reid - Tennessee. The dramatic drop off has not been due to a shortage of candidates. FBS transfers are running high but now they're going to other FBS schools. It used to be that FBS transfers got immediate eligibility if they transferred to a FCS program but they had to sit out a year if they went to another FBS. Those rules have been relaxed and they may be done away with completely. More and more FBS transfers are playing right away at new FBS schools.

FCS schools had been closing the gap with the FBS. That trend could be reversed. Victories over FBS schools like Colorado St. and Northwestern could be harder to come by in the future.

This is true.

I agree that it likely will be tougher to land FBS players with playing experience.

But we've also had really good success with players transferring in after only their redshirt freshman year or with limited playing experience somewhere else. I'm not sure of the impact of the rule change with these types of players.
