We need help now. But we also need to build depth for future, so we don't end up with bare cupboard like this again. ISU has always had good to very good receiver group with guys waiting their turn. We fell way off last year.

Pantagraph reported 2 NLI signed recently. A 6'2" receiver needing more work academically and a 5'11" multisport receiver that will greyshirt.

The taller player is EJ Smoot 6'1 180 WR Beggs HS, OK, who verballed recently. This means he signed and the coaches are commenting. Notable comment: he has some academic work to do. So not a qualifier yet.

The other kid is Taylor Grimes 5'11 170 WR Godley HS, TX. He will enroll in Spring 2019.

What ever happened to that juco receiver out of California

He is on the roster, but not much info yet. I imagine he'll participate in spring practice and have a photo taken in the fall with the new players.

Consider me surprised we haven't seriously addressed this issue with FBS transfers. Whoever is back at QB this year will have to be a PLAYMAKER.

I remember Brock talked a bit about him. He said he had some 'Pac 10 looks'. The kid wanted to wait a bit, but Brock said take it or leave it, he took it. I'm looking forward to seeing him play.

He's breaking school records in track and competing in the NCAAs. I joked with one of the coaches that our offense next year should just be KP running a fly route and having the QB throw it as far as they can. TD every time.

He's killing it in 60m hurdles right now of ISU track team. Reminds me of another current Redbird on our roster who did very well in HS doing 60m hurdles .. RB Jordan Birch. And for those who forgot, if Kentre can do this to get more YAC, I"ll take him:

Beathard has been around long enough to have been fully engaged in the process with these two guys. Hard to see us going this route if he weren't bought into this being our best option at this time.
