No clue what you mean but let me clarify. Reeves needs to stay for the Birds to have any chance next year. If Dan can't retain Reeves then they might as well fire him because theyll will go nowhere next year. It'll be same stuff, different year. As, the next poster said, maybe Dan can find some NIL money to entice Reeves to stay.

Edit: Reeves is scoring 21 points per game. That's why he gets special treatment.

That's fine- but If Reeves told me he was leaving if I didn't keep Muller, I would take that in consideration...but still make the choice that is in the best interest of the program. What makes you think next year will be any different than the previous 3? I'm not weighing the next several years on a hope and whim of one. It's never going to be a great time to get rid of a coach. You always risk losing someone. Let me add that I would also want to have a replacement game plan. If I don't have a game plan- I probably keep muller one more year.

I don't think it will. I'm saying IF. But, you have a point about a Reeves ultimatum

Avoid Thursday is my floor to keep him 1 more year. Play like 2nd half against Bradley and I’m not worried about it at all. I’ve been very vocal on moving on. Something is different about Dan the past month. There’s the fire we’ve been missing. Covid interrupted it and let’s see how the next 6 weeks go.

The O'Brien Auto Dealership needs to step up make a commercial with Reeves. Give him a little pocket money like they do in Champaign with their big 3 basketball players.
The ad with Dan and the O’Brien guy that I can never remember his name is so cringeworthy. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anyone so arrogant.

If the Birds finish at or near .500 against Division 1 teams and they make it to the semi-finals in the Valley tournament, that might be enough 'progress' compared to the previous two years for the AD to think it would justify one more year of not having to pay for both Muller's and a new coach's salary. Anything short of those historically modest accomplishments and Muller would most likely be gone.

A lot of ifs here but the two guys we have offered, Brandon Pierce and Brian Moore, would both be great pick ups IMO. Pierce would be a freshman that might see some limited playing time next season. We probably will have 2 roster spots to fill at a minimum due to transfers (hopefully not much more than that). We probably have a better chance at Pierce than Moore. Moore just put up 47 points and would come in as a junior. Could replace a guy like Strong if Strong chooses to graduate and play professionally. If not, he could provide extremely valuable depth at the guard position and might even compete to start.

Realistically, at best, we probably only get one out of those 2. There will be a lot of opportunities in the transfer market once again. The opportunity is there next season to be really solid. However, there is a ton that can happen over the next 3-4 months that could change that.

On a side note, does anyone know if we have had anyone on a visit yet this season for game day? Bradley would have been a good one, but I hope we see some of the guys we are recruiting on campus before the end of the season.
Ethan Kizer from Metamora and his family were at the Bradley game. He is not a Senior, but he is on the radar. I am sure Bradley is interested too.

I believe those are the two schools that have offered (Bradley and ISU) so a great game for him to go to. Glad he made it to that one.

He makes 3x as much as the AD who has no personal/sentimental ties to DM or the history of the program. Therefore at minimum I'd guess we need to be at or over .500, if not make the dance. Otherwise, I'd imagine they'll take a stern look at that contract. But then again, it's probably because of that very contract/covid/transfer portal repercussions/no possible way to make a profit with covid + low attendance, etc. that he's safe for another year.

ISU will lose its top three scorers and five players total as always at the end of the season so I'm not sure what you're looking forward to

And let's look at the facts, Illinois State fired its most successful coach after one losing season after multiple NCAA appearances. Not sure why coach is getting so many chances for no success.

I don’t know why anyone would even consider keeping Muller. Ten years and no visit to the show, in the MVC. That’s failure. And quality programs, or those used to be quality programs, don’t reward failure. He’s got to go; the sooner the better. As far as Reeves; his performance this year is attracting attention from quality programs. He will certainly be leaving ISU; if he can.

Yeah, "Congrats on being the first ISU team to ever have 3 losing seasons in a row. Please stay."

I thought Porter had a losing record in all three years, but in his ‘04-‘05 debut we were 17-13, despite a season-ending nosedive (seven straight Valley losses).

Anyone remember much about that team? Beat Penn State, Ole Miss, Marshall and St. John’s in the non-con with probably UIC as only “bad” loss. We’d kill for that kind of schedule and result now.

Unfortunately rosters and stats only go back as far as ‘05-‘06, and I’m drawing a blank when it comes to who the stars were, and why we fell off a cliff after ‘04-‘05. Guidry? Gordon? Dilligard? Shedrick Ford?

Kicked off the season at a tournament hosted by Marquette
