POLL IS CLOSED

As most of you know, it has been a contentious couple of weeks here. Down year by Football and less than expected start by basketball have not helped.

I know people are annoyed/upset/tired/whatever word you want to use here on the board. I know some of you have left or stopped posting. That is not something I want, I want this be a vibrant Redbirds community with every one contributing.

Obviously how I'm doing things is not working. I know I can't make every one happy, but it seems as though no one is happy. So, I've created a survey that I'd like every one to fill out. Even if you don't have a username and you just come and read, please fill it out. It is completely anonymous, if you want it to be. I do have a place for you to leave our name/username but that is not required. I want you to be frank and honest.

In the spirit of transparcy if you think I can see who sends the results, I will share the results with any one that wishes to see them (the anonymous ones only) and I will share the aggregate results here on the board.

I want to do better, you guys are asking for me to have rules that I don't currently have. So this is your time to voice what you want those to be.

I'll leave the survey up for a couple of weeks.

Thank you for reading,
Quinn

Nothing lasts forever. I for one don't want Quinn to take his ball and go home. Maybe everyone (myself included) needs to take a step back and pretend our real names are on this stuff. I do respect Doug Sutton for that. This is just sports guys. No ones going to war here. Again myself included.

I cant disagree with this.

I don't want Quinn to go or anyone else for that matter.

Quinn .. curious and would help to know if you are getting complaints about the forum or that posting activity is just down ?

Assuming the later, obviously winning less is dampening enthusiasm. 2 ends of spectrum there ... bball competes in one of the weaker conferences, and team is struggling still. Fball competes in strongest conference (FCS anyway) and has struggled for consistency the last 3 years. I still say 6-5 the last 3 year is much better than the 6-5's Spack got in 2009-10.

In any case, perception is everything and the football mojo has been promising but inconsistent the last 3 years .. fans get tired of getting hopes up only to finish 6-5. I assume that is biggest driver if posting activity is down.

I completed the survey and made some suggestions about thread protocols and monitoring, similar to how it is done on AGS. But it was in no way a complaint .. AGS has many admin people and they've been doing it a long time.

Winning more games would improve attitudes and posting activity. We are a fickle and fair weather fan base. So we have some hurdles to overcome as far as fan support goes.

But I greatly appreciate the thankless job Quinn does and that he is one guy. Keep up the great work, it is appreciated. And thank you for doing all that you do already.

Just filled out the survey. I recommended an immediate removal of Quinn, however was unaware that he signed a 7 year extension with redbirdfan.net. last year. It just seems like at the start of every season, he isn't prepared to handle all of the conflicts and then as the season goes on he gets better and better only to implode during the MVC championship game thread. With Total Red's recent departure to the Michigan Basketball Message Board, I only see things getting worse from here.

I have no problem whatsoever with the way the board is being run.

There are a few posters I don't pay any attention to, every now and then I might engage with them, but for the most part I don't waste my time with people who are obviously too impressed with themselves to pay any attention to other opinions. I don't call names, and don't think anyone has ever called me one. I wish some people would go away, and you know, the fact is, most of the jerks don't really stick around all that long. Eventually they move on. I stay out of some discussions, just because the people dominating them are off in la-la land, IMHO.

Didn't mention this in my survey Quinn, but I find the football board much better/more agreeable than the hoops board, except for the occasional "fight" over FBS and how we got where we are today, and the geniuses and experts who badmouth the administration, past and present, for not doing something different. Our football stalwart posters - I won't try to name any so I don't leave anyone out, but they know who they are - stay above the fray and are mostly about good info and respectful opinions.

Total red helps me on the football side. He gets credit too.

I've never seen Quinn and TR in same place .. assume they were same guy ... no ??

kidding ... kudos to TR's efforts as well. I'm not good at keeping track of this stuff. As I already said, I'm happy with they way this board is run. AGS is managed tighter, but they have their problem posters .. at least one of them is an admin guy, no less.

Keep up the good work ... survey is good idea, but sometimes you just got to ride the storm out ... winning cures many ills. I heard a great line on ESPN sports radio the other day with regard to Bulls and Hawks .. better to have angry fans than fans who don't care. But I'm with Madbird .. can't we just fight nice when we disagree and then move on ???

I know you aren't a fan of bombarding the bball thread when it doesn't pertain to bball but since this is for the betterment of the site, maybe you should post it over there....I will be honest, I rarely check anything other than the men's bball thread. I am guessing that many are like that too.
