"Spack believed a dramatic facelift was in order and six assistants who had been with the program for a total of 38 years no longer have Kaufman offices. Spack arrived at the conclusion the stability of his coaching staff was no longer a strength.

“It was a weakness. Guys started beating their own drums and having their own agendas,” Spack said. “I didn’t like the vibe around the office. I thought things were very, very stale.

“It was my obligation if I’m going to stay for a while to get this fixed and get it back to how I wanted it. It was a very difficult thing to do. But I’m happy we’re where we’re at.”

Hats off to Coach. :!:

This guy has been something special for this school. He is personally responsible for putting ISU football on the map and allowing us to even have the FCS/FBS discussion. Just like I've said about Coach Muller at RBA, this guy has the resume, history, knowledge and respect around the entire college athletics world to be a coach at a T25 FBS program and he is here at ISU for a decade.

One more NCAA championship game appearance and he's going to get HC calls from lower Big 10 and Big 12 schools, so we should feel exceedingly lucky to have him. When he becomes the winningest football coach in ISU history, I'd like to see some level of permanent notoriety made (A plaque at Hancock or something). Perhaps even a scholarship in his name.

I've always said same thing ... this is Spack's baby. He will never be able to find any other job that offers the job satisfaction he has here. He knows how it works at next level .. and it would never be a good fit for his style ... not like ISU and BloNo do. I also happen to think he was meant for this job and this level. So IMO .. he aint go nowhere. And there will eventually be a permanent plaque prominently positioned in front of Hancock ... or a statue if he wins or just gets to another Natty.

Current team is positioned for big things .. this or next year. Certainly will be in the picture for final four run ... maybe not this year, but likely next year. Will need some luck, just like 2014 team had .. last second wins over InSU and WIU, big Roberson run against UNH .. could have lost any or all 3 of those games .. but the depth on this years roster is very promising .. much of it is underclassmen.

Spack is loyal and very determined; plus he is a builder not a climber. He will be here a long time .. just don't take him for granted.

p.s. speaking of which, Multi-purpose Indoor Facility is "Next Step" .. where are we ?????
