Huh? Drake is playing a 5 seed with one of its best players questionable to play heading into the the tournament. Not sure I understand how they did Drake no favors. Pretty favorable draw, IMO.The ncaa, in their infinite wisdom, really stuck it to bradley. And they did Drake no favors. I will be rooting for our Valley mates but I won't be holding my breath.
wisconsin may be bad by their standards but this year they lost to an ncaa 1 seed in ot and beat a 2 seed. i read they were 8-8 vs the ncaa field. not an easy draw for bradley.Bradley can beat a bad Wisconsin team.
I believe a school PAYS $50-60,000 to play in the CBI.
What is the CBI?
The CBI is a postseason tournament for teams not picked in the NCAA tournament or the NIT that are also willing to pay a $27,500 entry fee to participate. It's operated by The Gazelle Group, which runs a handful of basketball events: the Barstool Sports Invitational, Empire Classic, Gotham Classic, Legends Classic and Tribute Classic. All of the participants in those in-season events qualify for the CBI as long as they finish .500 or better. USI's participation in the Gotham Classic this season, along with its .500 finish, allowed it to receive the invitation.
so with a $30 average ticket, just for the entry fee you'd have to sell just over 900 tickets. Then you have the factor in security/concessions ect. I bet the over all expenditure to host a game is around that 40K mark, when the entry fee alone is 27.5. But if you get 2,000 in the stands at least, probably break even, any more people and it probably turns a profit. I could see how a young team could use the extra practice and gain fan momentum would play in it.![]()

Couple thoughts -Bradley can beat a bad Wisconsin team.
Wash your mouth out. BU?One of the experts took Drake into the Sweet 16. I hope they do well.
I also hope BU beats Wisconsin up there. My disdain for the B10 in the postseason is more than it is for BU.
I cannot believe I said that.

Discount Tire College Basketball Invitational which takes place March 18-22, 2023 at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida
If that's true, my bad. I was told $50,000 and the school gets some money back if they make the final four. Either, way, the schools participating in this tournament have to pony up some cash for a couple extra games a couple days in decent weather.![]()

Did not realize that. Sucks that you don't earn any real income from it. Other than a young team getting extra practice and the benefit of it being a tournament style format. But it also will show off players to other colleges who could come in and swoop up players since anyone can transfer now, and more leagues involved will see tape on those players who might not be looking. A good showing by a freshman or sophomore could get them to a bigger school with an almost guarantee to play in the big boy tourney. The entire tourney is in Florida:
But in pure dollar value, an NIT game this season is worth $5,220 per side.
Both the University of Wisconsin men's basketball team and Bradley will get that amount for playing Tuesday night's first-round game at the Kohl Center. The Badgers can take home more for hosting, but that amount so far is undetermined, according to UW and NCAA spokespeople.
The payouts are:
• $5,220 to the 16 teams that lose in the first round.
• $10,440 to the eight teams that lose in the second round.
• $15,660 to the four teams that lose in the quarterfinals.
• $26,100 to the four teams that qualify for the semifinals in Las Vegas.
I'm not entirely sure about this, but I think all teams can continue to practice no matter if they are in a post-season tourney or not.Other than a young team getting extra practice and the benefit of it being a tournament style format.
