Now that Fournette got released, I think we may see our guy get a shot! Word from jags training camp is Robinson has had a great camp.

Per SI: "The second-best running back on Saturday wasn't Ryquell Armstead (who didn't practice) or Devine Ozigbo. Instead, it was burly undrafted free agent back James Robinson, who had several big runs and moments where he made defenders look silly in the hole thanks to a surprisingly quick jump cut move. "

Tampa Bay resigned Spencer Schnell. They must like him, he keeps hanging around. Good luck Spencer.

I have been hearing the same thing. Would love to see two Redbirds on the same team getting some playing time.

James Robinson does not want to play in the current Bears backfield .... Nagy has just not figured things out ... hard to say if it is roster or schemes, presumably both. But if Montgomery struggled to get out of that backfield, Robinson would also struggle .. both are good at reading holes and being patient, but Montgomery has a little more quicks, Robinson seems to have more power ... I'm not sure he can help solve the Bears current problems in run game and would probably fizzle.

He's in Jacksonville and it seems to be good mutual fit based on news reports. Statistically, Jaguars ranked 13th in rush ypc, and Bears ranked 28th.

WOO HOO - Robinson and O'Shaughnessey on the Jags 53 man roster. To tell you the truth I didn't think Robinson would make it. Not many FAs do.
I knew he had the talent but sometimes that isn't enough. Of course I never expected them to cut their starter loose either. He got picked up by Tampa Bay. Not sure what that was all about but regardless, J Rob saw an opening and he took it. He always does.

Wheels up for Robinson! The Jags beat writers keep raving about him and Chris Thompson said Robinson has the best vision of the group.

Luther Kirk made the Cowboys practice squad
Looks like Spencer Schnell did not get picked up by the Bucs PS. Hoping he can latch on somewhere - same with Bello
Lietke on IR with Washington
Harris & Harris on Denver 53
Nice job Spack & staff on building up a nice pro presence

Good news!

From today's Minneapolis Star-Tribune:

The Vikings signed former Illinois State safety Luther Kirk to the practice squad on Monday and released defensive back Nate Meadors. Kirk, an undrafted rookie, spent this summer with the Cowboys and was released during preseason roster cuts.

No one likes to get a break this way, but stay tuned, Luther Kirk may get a chance with the Vikings. Their D backfield has suffered several injuries, and a serious one this week at safety:

The Vikings lost reserve safety and special teams veteran George Iloka to a torn ACL suffered during Wednesday’s practice, the team’s last on-field session before the four-day, bye-week break over this weekend.

Iloka was given the full-time promotion to the active roster Oct. 10. His injury now leaves the Vikings with rookie Josh Metellus behind starters Harrison Smith and Anthony Harris. Cornerback Kris Boyd has taken some practice reps at safety, and defensive back Luther Kirk is a reserve option on the practice squad.

I only heard about this "league" a couple weeks ago, kind of a "developmental" league that is setting up in a "bubble" this spring. And looking over the teams I see one of our alums is on a roster. Unlikely too - probably only "serious" fans will remember James Graham, who was a RB and rarely played and ended up transitioning to a pass rushing DE if I remember correctly, for his senior year. You can check the whole story out on their website, I've linked in the roster with Graham's name on it. They'll be on TV in the next few weeks.

Finally got around to reading the small print/transactions in today's paper, and I see Luther Kirk was activated for today's Vikings game vs. Packers. Haven't seen him out there since I've been paying attention, but Vikes have had two D-backs leave the game due to injury so far.
