Yeah Red, I was not going to engage on this but it surely appears that he has gone Hollywood publicity mad. I don't follow this stuff but when I see his name I take a look. There were some allegations of stalking and some other strange stuff. I have no idea what is true and what is not but it looks as if he truly enjoys having his name and photo in the media. He is pursuing some type of Hollywood career I guess. Good former player and I hope things go well for him.
He’s currently working on a reality series for Netflix.

Bello is quietly having a fine career in the NFL. He continues to find a team to play for and it seems it has always been that way. He was lightly recruited out of HS. Illinois was his only P5 offer and he took it. He was a backup with the Illini so it didn't create a lot of excitement here when he transferred to Illinois State but he was a stronger, more experienced and better player by then. I'm sure a lot of Redbird fans would have to scratch their heads to try to remember any Bello highlights while he wore the Redbird uniform. Go back and watch the Northwestern game from 2016. That was a defensive gem for the Redbirds as they held the Wildcats to just 7 points. Bello was one of the guys on defense that afternoon that quietly had a very solid game.

Good for BJ Bello .. who remains my rags to riches FBS transfer story having coming from U of I, no less. Great story and love he continues to find homes. Says a lot about his character and ability that he keeps landing somewhere.

Congrats to BJ and way to represent !!!

Not sure if anyone has followed The Spring League, a quirky spring football league I don't pretend to know much about, but they debut tonight on FS1 TV and former Redbird Christian Gibbs lines up at WR for the Lineman (that's the name of the team) at 9pm for kickoff. There are eight teams but I was only able to find rosters for the four playing tonight in the North Division. Quite a few MVFC players involved. I believe Gibbs was class of 2017.

From the former administrator's department, ex-asst AD Mike Hamrick moves on:

Marshall athletic director Mike Hamrick is stepping down after 12 years of leading the Thundering Herd's athletic department, he confirmed Friday afternoon.
Hamrick, whose contract expires June 30, said he will transition to a new role as special assistant to university President Jerome Gilbert.

Kind of sports overload tonight - White Sox, Olympics, NFL - but flipped on the Canadian Football League for a couple minutes. Checked the rosters to see if there was anyone I knew, and what do you know? Cam Meredith is listed on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers "practice squad". Geez, says he's only 28 years old?? Time flies. Don't know any of the details of course about his chances or why he's on the practice squad and not the "real" roster.

It’s too bad what happened to Cam. He was on his way to a very nice career with the Bears before wrecking his knee. He’s never been right since.

I actually work with Rob Demovsky's brother and asked him to get me some insight to CU. He told him he has a great chance at making the 53 man roster. His speed will give him a shot on special teams.
Packers were second to in avg kickoff return yards. Hopefully he will get a chance to return some kicks. Sheppard.and Ervin are both gone so I would think its a good possibility.

Not sure what this means for Uphoff's chances, but today's Madison paper touts a couple of other rookies as return men:

Special teams coordinator Maurice Drayton is inclined to go with a pair of rookies on returns — wide receiver Amari Rodgers on punts and running back Kylin Hill on kickoffs — if the unproven duo can continue on their current path. While Rodgers was a returner in college at Clemson, Hill had zero return experience on punts or kickoffs at Mississippi State. “He does not have a lot of returns, so we are manipulating that during practice, pre-practice, post-practice. It’s just going to take rep after rep after rep,” Drayton said. “It’s going to take us putting him in game-like situations so that he is comfortable when we truly kick off. “(But) he has the ability to stick his foot in the ground and get vertical. That is awesome as a returner when it comes to setting up blocks.” ‘

Packers' depth chart released today. Uphoff listed as 4th team at free safety. Not listed as kick or punt returner, 3 guys listed at each position. Game is 7pm Saturday vs. Houston.

Himmelman 3rd team for Denver. Luther Kirk 3rd team at free safety for Vikes. They play each other Saturday afternoon after Bears - Dolphins on NFL channel.

Roberson got a fair amount of PT this afternoon for the Bears. I'd say a couple tackles at least and a couple nice pass breakups at least.

Oh yeah, the announcers gave some praise to Tre at one point, and pointed out he was a QB at Indiana then transferred to ISU where he played DB. Sigh.

Watched the Vikes and Broncos for a while, but never did see either Luther Kirk for the Vikes or Himmelman for the Broncos. Box score showed Kirk with 2 tackles.

Mike Zimmer getting heat after the first pre-season game with the Vikings. The former Redbird has had a pretty good run with the Vikings but I think the fan base is getting a little tired maybe of the ups and downs. Zimmer's record since he took over the helm in 2014 is 7-9; 11-5; 8-8; 13-3; 8-7; 10-6 and 7-9. I guess this should be an up year if his pattern holds true. The Vikings got clobbered by the Broncos but Zimmer sat almost all his starters. I can't see any reason to ever get upset or elated about a pre-season game. I wonder how long Zimmer lasts in the great north? I think he probably needs a pretty good season this year. Coaching is a tough profession.
