Finally got around to reading the small print/transactions in today's paper, and I see Luther Kirk was activated for today's Vikings game vs. Packers. Haven't seen him out there since I've been paying attention, but Vikes have had two D-backs leave the game due to injury so far.
Luther didn't get in, but he's getting closer.

Great to hear about Captain Kirk ... way to represent !!

Definitely remember James Graham moving to DE .. one, he was so explosive on the edge. Two, i was so sure it was a dumb idea to move him from RB to speed rushing DE.

Pretty sure thats the only thing ive ever been wrong about on Redbird Forum ... heck, anywhere for that matter !

🤔😬

The Broncos cut D. Harris. The Ravens picked him up.
I'm stunned. After what he's done for them on a modest salary !?(NFL standards). Go Ravens.

Let me edit that, I missed the D.
Davontae Harris was cut, not Shelby. That's less shocking. I wish Davontae happiness in Baltimore.

I just heard Josh Tolentino on Denver sports radio. He works for the Dolphins and will be in town for the game tomorrow.

EDIT: he's probably media, not a dolphin employee. It took me a minute to try to dredge up how I recognized his name.

Chiefs have 2nd and goal from the 6. As always, Shelby gets his hands up and blocks Mahomes pass. They're forced to kick a FG with 4 seconds left and the Broncos lead 10-9 at the half.

From the former coaches department, former Offensive Coordinator George Barnett moves on:

Tulane: Miami (OH) co-offensive coordinator / offensive line coach George Barnett is joining the Tulane staff as offensive line coach, Adam Rittenberg tweets.

According to footballscoop.com

Can't quite remember the circumstances, did he "just leave" to go the MAC, or was he encouraged to move on? Early in the Spack years.

And it's official now I see:

Tulane Football Names George Barnett as Offensive Line Coach - Tulane University Athletics (tulanegreenwave.com)

He was technically fired after his move to co-OC ... we were oh so predictable and conservative in 2013.

Hadn't seen this here. Shelby Harris's injury ends his season. In better news, he was able to be with his wife when Shelby Jr. arrived.

Former ISU LB and special teams coach moves upward:

Kansas: KU has announced Jake Schoonover as outside linebackers coach and special teams coordinator. He spent the past three years in a similar capacity at Bowling Green. The hire will allow Jonathan Wallace to focus exclusively on running backs.

Jacob Schoonover begins his third season at Bowling Green in 2020. He served as the team’s Linebackers Coach in his first season at BGSU, but has since moved to Safeties Coach and Special Teams Coordinator. Prior to coming to Bowling Green, Schoonover was the Linebackers Coach and Special Teams Coordinator at Illinois State.

In his first season as the Safeties Coach at BGSU, Schoonover developed a unit that included true freshman Jordan Anderson, who started seven games. As the special teams coach, Schoonover presided over a unit that was one of the brightest spots of the team in 2019. In fact, the unit blocked a punt and a field goal, forcing two muffed kick-offs in the 20-7 rivalry win over Toledo. It was one of the more dominant special teams displays in program history.

Schoonover served as the Linebackers Coach at Illinois State since 2011, adding the role of Special Teams Coordinator in 2012. He coached 14 all-conference players (nine at linebacker and five on special teams) as well as three-time All-American long snapper Chris Highland and All-American linebacker Pat Meehan. Four of his players went on to the NFL.

Prior to his time at Illinois State, Schoonover served as the Defensive Backs Coach at Illinois Wesleyan in 2010. He was also an offensive graduate assistant at Illinois State and a defensive assistant coach at Missouri Western State.

Ahhh, he didn't stay long in NOLA - Barnett moving to Iowa!
