South Dakota State is a 14 point favorite vs Montana, coming off an epic semifinals home win vs the Bison.

Hoping for a good game.

Montana looking tough on offense .. their QB is dual threat transfer from UCA, who began season as backup RB. Montana was really struggling the first 5 games with some very weak wins because their offense was anemic. Then this guy gets put into starting QB and they have been on a roll ever since.

SDSU offense looking very strong except for pick.

Good game but South Dakota is making some mistakes. If not for two mistakes could be a wider spread in the score right now

Montana defense is playing better than I would have guessed ... what a low scoring game and a very fast first half.

Montana couldn’t be much happier with the first half, but that was a tough 3rd quarter.

Couple fun facts for our Redbirds .. our offense tied for most points (21) scored against SDSU defense that gave up < 10 ppg on avg for entire season, including 9 games against playoff qualifying teams. And SDSU gave up just 4 pts ppg in playoffs playing against 1 weak autobid and 3 top 8 seeds ... #8 Villanova, #4 Albany, and #2 Montana.

Congrats to the Jackbunnies. Mike Banks gets a ring. They never would have repeated without a Redbird. The SDSU secondary was very impressive.

They say that the Valley is the SEC of the FCS, but the SEC can only wish that it was as dominate as the MVFC. A Valley team has made it to the Championship game every year going all the way back to 2011 and they have won most of those games. Some years two Valley teams have faced off. The SEC did not make it to the tomorrow's FBS Championship game.

Next year will be quite the test for the SDSU program with all their SRs.

Offensively:

JR QB Gronowski will be back, but his NFL stock has slipped significantly from a year ago. He is no longer an NFL prospect like he was a year ago, and will be losing the following starters from their vaunted offense ... top RB, 2 WRs, 1 FB/TE, 1 TE, 4 of 5 OL .. so they had 9 SR starters and 2 JR starters ... 10 of 11 returning from last years title team. Pointing out further, that this is still Stigelmeier (thru 2022) and OC Eck (thru 2021 offense for when these 34 5th and 6th YR SRs, were in their 3rd and 4th years already .. wink to TPS !

Top RB by far - SR RB Davis takes his 1,600 rush yards, which is just under half their rush yards. They do have some talented backups, but they're losing 4 OL starters.

Top 4 pass catchers and about 70% of their total catches

- SR WRs both Janke brothers are 1 & 2 (both 6th years)

- SR TE Heins was #3 (6th year)

- SR RB Davis was #4 .. (4th year ? not sure if he gets a pandemic year ?)

- SR blocking FB/TE Morgan (6th year)

Top 4 of 5 OL are gone ... 3 of which were 6 years players, 1 was 5th year. The 5th is a JR.

So this offense returned 10 of 11 from heir 2022, and will now lose 9 of 11 for 2024 .. unless SR Davis somehow has a pandemic year left ?

p.s. but sure, this is Lujan's offense and 2 Nattys.
