Ding ding da ding ding...DingDing.

And...Muller invited local coaches, and occasionally, their teams, into practice.

But a coach goes with his territory...12 years as an assistant in SEC...so yeah, Adunk makes a good point.

I'm excited for the future and Coach Pedon, but 2 yrs from now we could be biotching about the fact that we don't recruit nationally or internationally, enough.
Was it SEC territory or was it projects that were long and athletic that he thought he could turn into fundamental basketball players? Seems like we had a lot of wasted roster spots on projects versus guys that you could put immediately on the floor in a D1 game.

The buts with Pedon are comical considering he hasn’t coached one game at ISU but the same posters spent 10 years of buts with Muller. I have never been a fan of roster churn but maybe Muller was ahead of the curve there.

And I am not attacking your post at all with this Humdinger. Just pointing out that the recruiting wasn’t producing results over the prior 4 years.

Yep I hear ya and get it. I think it'll be a VERY tough job to organize a chemistry-filled team (let alone a talented and complete roster) in this off-season...so while I want my expectations to be sky-high - they're not for this initial year.

This I know. We've got a bold and gutsy athletic director...and a Coach who is very excited to be here for our primary revenue sport. If ya don't like that, you're just kookoo for cocoa puffs, man.

Honestly, I think it was both. He went where he was comfortable with recruiting and he often got the most athletic player. That said, I think a good chunk of his recruits were talented, but I think Muller's major problems were that he had no idea what kind of style he wanted the guys to play (other than fire at will from 3pt land), and he wasn't a talent developer. Once talent got here it just kind of existed, sometimes getting better because they attended summer camps, a lot of the time just being on the roster until they often left to find someplace else to develop their skills.

I think Muller knew what he wanted to do. But I don’t think he knew how to explain it to his players and coaches. And I’m not sure he had players or assistants that cared to figure it out After the PLee/Yak group.
