Been saying it for years- Marty Simmons.
Unfortunately, I don’t see him leaving Clemson to come to Illinois State. Only if it were to replace Dan. But would have been a good replacement for Brian Jones.

You could get the best offensive mind in basketball and this offense is still going to have 4 guys standing around on the perimeter not moving. Replacing Jones is just trying to attempting to plug a leak in the program.

I don’t know who they’d bring in but there’s no way that Jones survives this, right? There’s been absolutely no flow or organization offensively for several years now. These kids can’t compete if they’re not put into a position to do so.

I don’t know the dynamics, but you’re telling me Muller has zero say in the offense?

Thanks to rbf cancel culture the thread was deleted when I predicted this and was nearly sent off the board for pointing out making a guy that hasn’t coached good offensive teams at North Dakota would probably have issues.

The average offensive efficiency of his 10 years at North Dakota was 263.7 out of 355 (total varies by year) NCAA teams.

His last 7 years his offense in their conference ranked, 7th, 10th, 4th, 8th, 11th, 7th, 6th.

However, throwing Jones under the bus for this seems like shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic. Muller is in charge.

Oh I don’t know. When they shuffled the chairs I wound up with a better view.

I would love Lansing to come over and take over for Jones. Maybe he has the inside track on a couple more bigs like Williams and LaRavia.
I’m not sure if any of this is sarcasm or not, but struggling to see what Lansing gets out of joining the 10th place redbirds. If he wants to be an assistant he will have many many better offers than ISU.

LOL, look no further than Marty Simmons. Very similar head coaching career at Evansville. Then he lands a P5 assistant job. There’s a .00001% change Lansing will be sitting on the ISU bench next year.

Bringing him on as an assistant makes a lot of sense. I wonder if him and Belcher get along?
