At the bottom of this article Muller says he’s getting no bites on a “buy game” . . .

If our team is really as bad as some think, it should be no issue getting a buy game. So either Muller is asking the wrong teams, not asking at all, or ISU is actually respected in college basketball that bigger schools don't want to risk paying ISU to come to their place and win. After the 10 win season, I'd imagine teams wouldn't be too fearful.

OR, it may be as simple as fewer universities are deciding to commit paying out that kind of money/teams coming in from greater distances until the CoViD-19 storyline stabilizes in a positive direction.

There are reports of more colleges playing h/h or 2/1 with closer proximity schools that they would have not previously considered doing so, such as Georgia Tech with Georgia State and Missouri with Missouri State and Wichita State. If anything, it would be nice for Dan & company to cull out a regional opponent that fits that profile (even if it were not UofI, there are plenty of others in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Wisconsin, ...)

UTSA is out. Need 2 games.
Good! Maybe we can now fill those slots with a hi-level P5 program (by "Hi-level" I mean none of that Rutgers shit). You know, a game I'd actually go out of my way to watch. Yeah, that kinda opponent.

You know Rutgers is going to be in top 25 according to all preseason top 25s

I wouldn't want to watch us play at Rutgers either. They would beat us by 30!

I just grabbed one of the traditionally crappy Big Ten programs I could think of off the top of my head. That said, I could care less if Rutgers is top ten. I want a marquise program...UCLA, Michigan State, Kentucky, Arizona, etc.

As of June Rutgers was 22nd on ESPN way-too-early top 25. And, as far as the committee is concerned they would rather have a 22nd ranked team than a not ranked premier team. Sure if we can get a premier team ranked higher that would be great. Lower? Give me Rutgers.
