Interesting story about Petrino possibly leaving MO State - what have you done for me lately?

Missouri State head coach Bobby Petrino has emerged as a candidate in Texas A&M’s offensive coordinator search, sources have told 247Sports. He’s expected to interview with the Aggies in the coming days, per a source.

With his history of absolute loyalty, how could you ever even think for a moment he may leave the MSU program high and dry? Tougne firmly planted in cheek! 😁

There is a lot riding on this for Mo. St. We might be able to pick up a couple of players that would have been Mo. St. Bears.
Private aircraft Flight FTH327 left Springfield MO, yesterday at 12:29 p.m. and landed in College Station, TX at 1:55 p.m. If Bobby Petrino is taking the Texas A&M OC job we should know something soon.

Coaches can hop a plane and take off whenever they feel like it, so this is why players deserve the same right to transfer whenever they want. I don't like it, but it is fair.

This is terrible timing for Mo. St. with signing day just 6 days away. They just had a HS QB commit 3 days ago. The same day that Bobby P. flew to College Station, TX. But that's what you get when you hire Bobby. It's like making a deal with the devil. He has one of the best offensive minds in the game and he'll pull your program out the dumpster and take it to the playoffs but then what? You have to know the spotlight in Springfield, MO isn't bright enough to keep him happy for long. He flirted with a Power 5 OC job at Texas A&M but when that fell through he clearly just wanted out of town and he took the OC job at UNLV. Well, they do have bright lights in Vegas. In the end the devil (I mean Bobby) isn't going to care about your program or the young men that just committed. Bobby is going to take care of Bobby. Maybe two playoff games were worth it but I doubt it.

I cant say I am sorry to see him depart the MVFC.
interesting .. I had heard former LSU Coach Orgeron was in the mix for the HC job at UNLV. So they hired long time MIssouri guy Barry Odom (player and coach), who rose to HC in 2016-19 .. but got fired.

Also interesting .. last UNLV HC tried co-OCs ... apparently failed. Now Petrino moves in .. possible heir to HC job ? Somehow, UNLV and Petrino seem like a good fit.

Barry inherited the co-OCs listed below .. Petrino now OC.

Everybody is going to take care of themselves and I get that. Petrino has just been probably the worst I have seen about it. He was good for the MSU program and I think they got more than just a playoff appearance out of it. The team is in better shape than it was before Petrino and that should make it more desirable to a prospective head coaching candidate. That is if they can keep the players they have. In the portal age that is not a sure thing. He was never staying very long. He had been head coach of Arkansas, Louisville and the Atlanta Falcons. The money and prestige at that level can not be matched by any FCS program, even the vaunted Bison are pocket litter compared to an NFL Head Coaching gig. Petrino signed a 5 year $24 million contract when he signed as Head Coach with the Falcon's. His Arkansas contract was $2.85 million a year for 5 years. At Louisville he signed a 10-year $25.6 million contract and left for the Falcons less than six months later. He is trying to navigate his way back to the promised land and huge paydays. He is a talented football coach and if you win games someone will forgive just about anything.

I've always kinda thought that Bobby Petrino was a turd. I stand by that. Yes, they are a rival, but they didn't deserve this timing. The FCS increasingly looks like a developmental league for BCS. With this and Deion, that goes for coaches, too.

I don’t blame Petrine at all.
And all the players that commit and then transfer once a better offer comes along - right after the program that recruited them (when no none else wanted them) and spent countless hours developing them into a better player - are they the devil?

Ryan Beard has been promoted from DC to Head Coach at Mo St. Beard is the son-in-law of Bobby Petrino. At 33 Beard will be one of the youngest, if not youngest, D-I HCs in the country. Petrino left Mo St. between a rock and a hard place. They either had to make a quick hire from within or risk losing a recruiting cycle. I would say I hope this works out for them but that would be a lie.

My only interest at MSU will be to watch how many, if any, recruits pull their commitments. They were intending to play for Bobby, not his son-in-law. I guess this is one positive to the portal. Players have the option to move if the coach vacates his office. Years ago my niece was recruited and given a scholarship for soccer at one of the Illinois directionals. That spring/summer the coach that recruited her left to take a higher-paying job. The new coach had a totally different style and totally different type of player she was looking for. My niece was not her type of player. They honored the scholarship commitment but it was difficult on both sides. Players can de-commit or enter the portal if already on the team if they do not wish to play for the son-in-law. It seems fair to me to give them that option.

Wasn't it Petrino that said we couldn't practice or warm up on their field or something? And then the soccer coach said we could or something?

Missouri State football's spring season opener has been postponed due to weather.

A release from the Missouri Valley Football Conference said the postponement is due to adverse weather conditions, playing field readiness and to ensure a safe environment for both programs.

The game was to be played Saturday at 1 p.m. at Plaster Stadium. It will now be played on April 17 in Springfield.

no, no, no ... it was all this guys fault .. he got the sniffles or something and couldn't clear the field in time. Kids these days .. he just needs to dress more appropriately.
