Who, Ray?Hip! Hip!
This is great news and kudos to ISU for getting this approved. The orange and blue mob that encompasses Springfield are probably not happy about this. I expected more of an uphill battle here, which makes this even more incredible.
I still think this explanation applies to a possible political block on a law school for ISU; Even though a new law school would not be in the same league with u of I and would not be "competition" with respect to prestige, there's no way that u of I will allow an alternative 50 miles away if they can stop it.
Does anyone recall when Southwest Misery St wanted to change their name to Misery St? The U of Misery fought hard to keep that from happening. Simply didn't want the competition.
GO YOU REDBIRDS!
The College of Engineering will include the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Department of Mechanical Engineering with degree programs in electrical, mechanical, and general engineering. University officials are targeting the fall of 2025 for enrollment of the first class of students.
