It seems if we recruit talent we can’t coach them recently. Give me a start with less talented hi BB IQ players who a coach can make win, and the talent will eventually come.

Rich Herrin was a long-time high school coach before he took the SIU job, and he managed to build a good Salukis program up from out of the ashes. His relationships with the high school coaches in the smaller towns of southern Illinois and Missouri helped him land a fair amount of talent that most "top" D1 schools barely noticed. Point being, not all good coaches at the "mid major" level have to come from P5 programs, and some have other attributes and connections that can prove valuable in rebuilding a program. Personally, I prefer an "up and comer" lead assistant from a P5 program, but this program cannot currently afford not to cast a wider and deeper net in search of candidates than perhaps it would have 25 years ago.

Very good game, NWMO was able to overcome the huge inside guy Augusta had (or Augusta was not able to take advantage of their huge inside guy). Experienced guys got it done at the end. Reffing was questionable, but I think both ways. McCollum's gonna end up somewhere, eventually. Maybe have to start out "smaller" - UMKC, Nebraska-Omaha? - but seems like he has something going for him.

He was seemingly a finalist (3) for the Milwaukee job. It ended up going to Bart Lundy of Queens University

I would have rather had him tban pedon but it is what it is and I'll back pedon until at least the end of year two! His resume also deserves it.

not often I am in alignement with TBS_20, but Ben McCollum was my preference as well (not that Pedon has done anything to think he will be anything but a plus). He just seems like the kind of coach that IF he were to stay (more likely, at least longer, than (probably) Pedon if/when he is successeful) that the team would never "bottom out". Just a feeling/hunch.
