DJ Horne just his a 3 with 12 seconds left in regulation to tie TCU. Then TCU hit a shot with 1 second left to win. DJ was 4-5 from 3 in the game with 17 points.

It was incredibly frustrating watching this game and seeing how many of the ASU players only look for a shot the moment they touch the ball. They are like horses with blinders on only looking at the basket as if they are just looking for a way to get their shot. It's not team basketball. I much prefer watching team basketball like many other teams in this tournament play. I feel bad for DJ. He had a great season and I felt he was their best team player all year, he was 2nd on the team in scoring, just 1 point per game behind the leader.
Exactly. Whatever happened to Pete Maravich and Scott Skiles…not to mention Magic, Bird and Lloyd Phillips. Tired of it.

So awesome watching DJ hit that clutch shot. Even better was his reaction - yell for a second, then focus on what comes next. Even the announcers were calling out his teammates for playing hero-ball instead of finding him open.

Agree Drake gave that game away. Bad coaching strategy of holding ball the last several minutes with the lead. Drake stopped scoring, mostly due to their own strategy, which is a big reason as to why they lost. Drake threw up consecutive shot clock air balls in the last couple of minutes which is exactly what the Canes needed....ie stops.

Drake was totally outcoached down the stretch. In addition to taking the air out of the ball with 5 minutes to go, they were unprepared for the press. They got beat 16-1 over the last 4 plus minutes of the game.

Even with Drake acting like they’ve never seen a press they still probably win if Tucker gives anything on offense. Larry Bird winner going 1-13 in the biggest game of his life is embarrassing for the entire MVC.

The number of times I saw DJ wide open for a trey and the ball handler was too busy trying to create their own shot was ridiculous. DJ was brimming with confidence, but you could see his frustration in being ignored. To his credit I never saw him complain to his teammates though.

Wonder why Devries did not post up with his size. Brody was scoring enough that his man could not leave and double on a post on the opposite side. Probably keeps the Devries' at Drake one more year.

I didn't see the game, but I'm a BIG believer in a shared basketball WHILE FEEDING THE HOT HAND.

I saw the entire game and it was incredibly frustrating. There was a selfishness that a lot of the players displayed. It just felt like when some of the kids got the ball, they felt it was their chance to get theirs. The announcers mentioned more than once that they were trying to pay hero ball. DJ clearly had the hot hand and as @Bird Friend shared, he didn't complain to his teammates but you could see his frustration. DJ played team basketball

Missouri Valley Conference in the NCAA. Let’s hope one of the 12 get “hot” next year in the tournament and get us all some respect. Yes, I will agree in the past the MVC over performed in the tournament. With NIL and portal it is a whole new ballgame. Wonder what the eventual over/under number of MVC players in the portal will be? We have to hope every MVC team picks it up and increase their rating. Several MVC teams, and dare I include ISU have not been very good for the last several seasons. Having several perennial 300+ net teams is not beneficial to the rest of the league. Not only good pre conference schedules, but successful outcomes is very important for this conference going forward. And, before we throw stones at other teams in the league, which school has the longest run of not going to the dance. Bottom line we need to pick it up and haul our fair share. Respect starts at home and then it can radiate out from here. We have to do better as a conference or we are destined to be a one bid conference for the foreseeable future.

I’ll preface this by saying I’ve been drinking and golfing all day, but how in the holy hell is FAU light years beyond ISU in terms of basketball?!?!?
That’s a shit school and they’ve been around like what, maybe ten years and they’re light years better than ISU.
Pathetic.

Let’s not forget the FT disparity. I think it was like 100 to one.
But, whatever.
