At this point i'm hoping they can play the season in the spring/summer. I understanding conferences trying to hold off on cancelling the season but I don't think it will matter in the end. This ISU team has the potential to be elite I would hate to wonder what if.

If MVFC scratches season, would ISUR go out and play as an independent?

Well, as of 5:35 pm last night it appears the NCAA is kicking the can once again. Now they are going to make a decision in August...maybe.

I don't know how prudent this is. If MLB can't stop half the roster of one of its teams from getting infected, what chance does any football team have? Baseball might be the easiest sport to keep the participants safe, but a locker room is a locker room.
Yep. And a classroom is a classroom, a bus is a bus, a cafeteria, a training room, a sideline.......... One lunkhead can infect a team.

Football would be last sport to play in a pandemic. Those guys knocking into each other face to face; snot, sweat and spit flying everywhere. I hope they force them to wear full plastic face shields at least. Somebody told me the NCAA was forcing the teams to have special whistles, where spit couldn't spray when the coaches blew into them.

I need My MVFC 🏈!!!!!

I will miss it if they do not play but the safety of the players, coaches, and their families has to be the first consideration. As StlRebird stated, if they cant keep a Baseball team healthy, how do they expect to keep players safe in football, soccer, basketball or any other sport where there is routine person to person contact? I look forward to Redbird football all year but this is quite a different year.

I just don't see this as a black and white decision. As a whole, we aren't taking it very seriously as a society. From what I've seen so far across the country, more athletes have arrived at camp with it than have developed it through organized sport activities. I almost think that a college football player's highest risk time is Saturday night rather than anytime connected to their game. And this isn't limited to sports. I'm aware of 17 cases. 16 of those were tracked to social situations rather than work situations. The only unknown is a healthcare provider who might have caught it in the hospital in January. Four were healthcare providers who were tracked to exposure away from work...without distancing and without masks.

We have to do better.
