I gotcha. I think he was probably taking the cumulative wins and losses at the end of the 2017 season, which admittedly was a good percentage. I'm not certain about this but I believe his name was thrown around for the Dayton job. Whether or not you call that a "major college watch list" is definitely up for debate and I totally understand why someone wouldn't, but it is a step up from ISU in terms of recognize-ability and conference.

I heard the same things regarding the Dayton opening but as usual we really don’t know who was actually doing the “throwing around.”

That was a fun season, especially knowing all those guys were coming back for one more year.

He was the winningest coach in the State of Illinois for awhile. Then the last 4 years happened.

Honestly, Muller’s offensive numbers are mediocre. He was a 39 percent shooter, 32 percent from 3. Wow! I would have thought he was a better shooter than that.
He was the 4th option on offense at best. He would be used in match-ups (zone breaker with lobs from the corner, post up smaller defenders, etc.) Stallings would run some set plays for him because he almost always had the weakest defender on him. His value was in his defense. He could guard 4 positions on the floor (Leroy always took care of the biggest post). That whole team could guard (except maybe Rico, but he would secure the rebound) Leroy was never given credit for his defense. Skip and Jamar could lock down guards. They also had Hansel off the bench who was an excellent defender. If Tarise Bryson had a school counselor that knew what they were doing he would have been academically eligible with that group. If Rico doesn't decide to test the waters of the NBA that team continues it's dominance with Bryson, Cartmill, Murdock and Riley.

That was his worse year shooting. He sot 49.8% and 49.2% the following year

4 year career
FG 44.2%
3 py 36.4%
FT 76.8%
Reb per game 5.3
Points 11.3

Not bad while playing defense on the other side of the court

After the Pacific game Michael Olowokandi (1st player taken in the NBA draft) said LeRoy was the toughest player he had played against.

Will isu basketball ever get to this level again? Sadly I didn’t know how good we had it back then.

A lot has change since that class was brought in back in 1994. With the Transfer Portal it is going to be very difficult to keep All-MVC player’s on the roster for four years. We have already been experiencing that.

It's ironic that in the year that Coach Muller gets dismissed, he overachieved. In preseason polls ISU was picked to finish dead last in the conference but might finish as high as8th. [ sarcacn]

We'll see. Last year's MVC first team - 2 graduating seniors, the other 3 all came back (Mosely, Prim, Penn). Second team - 2 graduating seniors, 1 transfer, 2 return. Third team - 1 transfer, 4 return.

It’s still about developing relationships. You may not keep every player- but you can build relationships and reach out to as many families as you can. The Portal can either be your best friend or worst enemy. It’s not going to always be fair- but so is life. If your attitude stands out like a sore thumb- you are already behind the 8 ball!
