It had to happen. Coaching thru the end of the season is weird
Agree. This could play out uncomfortably. Soinds.like they came upon an amicable agreement to me. So to recap, the lily live red AD without the guts to fire a coach, fired a coach. And the selfish only thinks of himself coach seems to have thought of others. Other than that its been pretty spot on

Needed to be done. Can't say I'm going to celebrate it, just cuz I think it's a bad way for a legendary alum to finish things with the university. It's why Collins never considered coming back, and didn't want Chris to come here.

Finishing out the year is weird, to say the least. If you're going to fire him, fire him and move on. Then again, I'm sure I don't want Jones leading the team the final few games. I feel bad for TWills and Johnson, having just been added to the staff this year.

Pretty sure this confirms any thought Reeves might have whether or not to stay (gonna go). Simpkins twins prolly won't sign now unless Johnson stays on.

At least Brennan gets an early start on identifying/targeting our next coach.

If Dan really wants to finish out the season, I am ok with it. If he doesn't want to finish the season, he needs to go ASAP.

Yep, it had to happen, but sucks it had to end this way. I really wanted him to be successful here. Wondering if the obvious coaching mistake not to foul yesterday had anything to do with the timing.
I have no insight at all. However, my guess this decision was made a while back. This was probably the easiest time to announce it.

I hope we've all learned a valuable lesson here. When coaching positions open up, don't wish for an alum to come lead us to our glory. Jim Less was all I had to see to be convinced of that.

Like most happy that it happened sad Dan failed. Wonder at the timing if they have somebody in mind and wanted to strike before other openings

Sad day. I think many of us were excited when Dan was hired. He was given 10 years and couldn’t get it done. It’s the best decision for the ISU basketball program. I believe it was time for Dan to go, but with that said, wish him all the best on his next chapter.

In 1990, Tom Miller (Colorado) was fired between the end of the regular season and the start if the Big 8 Conference Tournament. He showed up in Kansas City with one suit. As the #8 seed, the Buffaloes defeated sixth ranked (#1 seed) Missouri and #5 seed Oklahoma State on their way to the final, before succumbing to second ranked (#2 seed) Oklahoma.

Strange(r) things.
