[Birdfan 4Life]

Won the Firestone Invitational yesterday at Firestone Country Club in Akron, OH wire-to-wire...with a 3 round total of -5 under par as a team. Even with their final round of +7 over par they came out victorious.

Had 4 of the 5 guys in the Top 10 and 3 in the Top 4. Lot's of talent and getting better and better each tournament over the past month. Their strength of schedule will give them a chance to be a Top 50-75 team which could get them an Auto Birth into NCAA Regionals.

Last week the team was tied for the Lead going into the Back 9 and ended up finishing in 2nd Place to close out their Fall Season down in Little Rock. Tent Wallace was the Individual Champion with his -6 under score and shooting under par all 3 rounds.

"It was still a strong showing as a squad to finish second behind the home team and place three guys inside the top 15," Coach Kralis explained. "The guys have raised the bar this season, and I believe the best is yet to come."

If they can find a 5th score for the Spring they will have a great chance of climbing even further in the National Rankings. Have 4 solid guys right now that have been contributing every tournament: Tent Wallace, Zach Burry, David Perkins, and Juco transfer David Rauer.

Placed 4th out of 16 Teams and beat the #46 ranked team Kennesaw State and 51st ranked team Notre Dame. Great start to the Spring Season!!

"It was a great team effort today," said head coach Ray Kralis. "Finishing off the second round in strong fashion and moving up three spots was big for us. We carried that momentum into round three and road that to a great start. While we dealt with a little adversity midway through the round, the guys stayed composed and competed to finish off a very solid team effort. Placing four guys in the top 20 is very encouraging at this point of the season, and we're looking forward to Florida State."

Still looking for a consistent 5th man score to help solidify the line up before the MVC Championship at the end of April. Southern IL and Missouri State seem to be the 2 teams that could give ISU a go for the team title.

Just completed a 3rd Place finish out of 16 teams at Oral Bob's tourney in Dallas, March 12-14th.

Only 5 shots out of 1st Place, definitely a tourney the guys could have won. Still looking for that 5th guy to give them some consistent scoring.

Jr., David Rauer, finished with a three-round score of 3-under-par 210 (69-73-68) for a second place individual finish.

In 2 weeks, March 31st and April 1st, the squad will host their only Home Invitational of the year. Top 100 teams Duke (33) and Wisconsin (95) will join ISU (98) in the 17 team field. If you are in town come out and support the guys during 36 holes Sat. and 18 on Sun. Big opportunity to battle and play with some great teams at Weibring GC!
