That really sucks about Draka .. dude came out of nowhere to be very good. Best wishes to him !!!

Oh what might have been for this defense if we played this fall .. I have little doubt this could have been a solid top 40-50 FBS defense, and likely a top 3 FCS defense, along side fellow MVFC programs NDSU and UNI, if not #1.

The transfer has not worked out very well for McKnight so far. He got into the opening game against App State and recorded one solo tackle. Their next game against North Carolina was canceled for COVID reasons. Tomorrow's game against Georgia State has been postponed for COVID reasons and they don't know if they will be able to reschedule. Still, quite a few games to go on the schedule. I wonder how many they will play. Notre Dame will not be playing this weekend for COVID reasons and their game against Wake Forest is also being postponed. We are only three games into the season. I wonder if this is going to get worse.

bumping thread from Sep 2020 pandemic fall exodus .. lot of Transfers in addition to lot of Seniors from 2019 defense .. best Spack defense ever, this was an FBS level defense that was decimated. Biggest SR losses was at LBer position, plus Draka graduating in Dec and opting out of spring ... but we had enough coming in behind them, plus picked up Shannon Reid. Deforest, Clark, Mends, Washington all graduated.. Simon and Draka both had 1 more year and would have earned a pandemic year.

How did opponents even make it back to line of scrimmage against this group? They didn’t. I’m still sore about their lateral scoop and score that wasn’t in the FargoDome.

Imagine that team if we'd had a QB ... even Brady Davis. Jefferson came in and did a nice job as game manager. Still gave Bison their toughest playoff game.

I was discouraged when I first read this post but after a 2nd look I can see the optimism embedded within. If you follow the logic in it (which you should because it's obviously the product of a somber, serious and brilliant mind), the message tells us that Redbird Football may be re-entering a brief sucking stage. Implied in this is that RF has sucked in the past followed by a period of non-sucking which bring us to the current re-sucking phase - hence the exclamation "We Suck Again." Since we have known the program to not significantly suck for considerable periods of time it is my optimistic belief that the current re-sucking will be swiftly terminated by a wave of maturing young talent successfully replacing veterans departing for greener pastures. After all isn't that what we all want as Sportsfans. We want hope for a better tomorrow. We want to root for a team that sucks only intermittently and not perpetually. Sanantioniobird's post provides us with that hope.
TR ... this post aged very well. Spack rebuilt his defense by 2022.
