When Illinois State hired coach Robinson, and focus was to take the program from division 2 to a division 1 program. With that in mind he recruited the collins, as well as three high school Americans also to the squad.
To the next level they hired coach Smithson to take it to the next level which they did and it great players for high school on Americans and three people that played in the NBA after that.
Next up will focus., Coach Bob Donald who took the programs in next level multi NCAA appearances, do you need to build one of the best level basketball facilities in the Missouri valley and was fired for having one losing season because he pushed the buttons of the social club that's called the alumni at Illinois state. After that point it was a bunch of head coaches that cared more about using Illinois State as a stepping stone than a career move. When Illinois State decides to hire a head coach that is a real head coach now back up assistant to assistant to assistant ,then the program will have to be bett much to the chagrin of most of you, how nice it is going to have to hire a real head coach to try to turn this program around because all the other programs that move on to a bigger conference and Illinois State basketball will still be playing in a sublevel league. It's all about focus, in the beginning the focus was about improving the program to be extremely competitive and winning it NCAA championship, unfortunately now the program has gone the direction to say we can be mediocre and still play a couple of conference playoff games and be happy.

I sometimes wonder if Crazzy is nothing more than some sort of AI test bot?

"Who is this Bob Donald you speak of?"

Mark - wake up. If coaches are moving on to the next level that means we're winning. For the current times our best bet is to have a bright new young coach every 4 yrs that gets us to the tourney at least every other year - I'd gladly shuffle coaches for that. Not that I don't want a coach to stay...I'd love for that to happen. But win, move on, and hire us another Gipper.

Here's reality. I hope Ryan is a hot commodity and outta here in 3 more yrs. That would mean he did his job.

Collins was recruited by Collie, not Robinson. He was on the frosh team the Birds' last year in D2.

Head Coach Jim Collie was a good recruiter and Doug Collins was brought here by him. Coach Collie really had great teams in the 60’s, but had no desire to go big time. The rest is history!!

Ever see those movies written entirely by bots? (can be found on YouTube.) The dialogue is hysterically bad from a language and tone standpoint, not even including the context, which often has a point if you can cut through the surface confusion. It's a chore. But you can't not enjoy it. I feel that's what Crazy's posts are like.

Not to mention, he was a friend of Rich Herron, Collins’ HS coach.

The nation's (well, how about Uptown Normal) leading detective authority regarding message board mystery. Right here, folks. In old school terminology...a real message board "Dick!"
