Don’t want to give any spoilers away, but watching Last Chance U on Netflix. In episode 7, they show a phone conversation with WR markiese King and an assistant coach at ISU. Brief clip, but interesting to see ISU on the show.

good catch Rico .. I saw that as well. Even showed him on his phone looking at something with our Redbird Logo .. again, love our logo .. very distinctive and bares our name, which helps.

But back to kid ... dude can play some ball, but wouldn't qualify .. sad story because he was otherwise a good kid, very talented and tough as nails playing thru injuries ... just couldn't find motivated in class room.

I'm not through it yet, but just finished the episode where King gets a SEVERE concussion and they let him go back in. It was a little cringey. Really good player though. Fast and great hands.

the head coach featured is an egomaniac and lunatic ... likes to pretend he truly cares about the kids, but really just cares about himself. I couldn't believe they let King go back in the game .. inexcusable. Amazing how that team was widely recognized as having the best talent in country and yet lost so many games .. many easily. It was all on the head coach ... the scene where he rips into his asst coaches, threatens their jobs and starts reeling off all o fthe positions he could coach himself if he wanted to and went on and on ranting about how he knows how to coach ... meaning, it was all the assistant coaches faults, not his. And he just loved the spotlight the show put on him ... bet he regrets it now.

Jason Brown is not a coach in any sense of the word. He went after kids who were out of options for a reason. He could intimidate them. And when he got them he couldn't coach them to save his life. All bark and no bite. A disgusting narcissistic clown. An arrogant bully who's football stupid. He wouldn't know proper technique if it slapped him in the face. And the guys coaching for him and against him knew it. So it bit him on his big fat arse like it always bites egotistical ignorant fools..

Sounds like he's going to spend some time where he belongs. Prison. 8 felony counts and counting. Good riddance of a bad egg from the profession.

Now ask me how I really feel. Oh yeah, that school president and AD should be canned for allowing it to go on as long as it did. Everything Brown did he did in plain sight. There. Now I feel better.

I’d be curious to see if enrollment at Independence and EMCC has changed since they were spotlighted on Netflix. I’m sure the school made some great money out of the deal, plus free exposure.

I finally got to the episode where King talks with the ISU recruiter. Makes me realize as far as brand recognition, our Marketing team did a great thing several years ago where they made Reggie and “Illinois State” our primary logo instead of just the Reggie head. A lot of people would look at the just the Reggie head and have no clue what it is. Having “Illinois State” in the logo does wonders for brand awareness.
