Sucks when these kids aren't clued in on the fact that class is kind of a "thing" while in school. Prob why he was turned off about coming to ISU.
Too bad to see such talent squandered.

Looks like Payton is out at SIU, at least for this year.

Found him. He was the only freshman who made the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference First Team all-region with current commit Josiah Strong. In conference play, he averaged 16/6 while shooting 72% from the floor.

Does he have to stay another year at JC? It probably depends on his school work, right? But man, those highlights were fun to watch.

Payton primarily played the 4/5 in high school. He’ll have to develop his wing skills to go to that level. Talent is there no doubt. It’s pretty easy to shoot 74% from the rim when 80% of your shots are dunks.

Don’t forget, it was academics and other off the court issues that caused him to “quit” his high school team. If he got all of that figured out, good for him and he should land at a high level MM/Low level P5.

Good for him. Hopefully he's been hitting the books hard. Still would love to see him play here. I wonder how many other big schools are looking at him.

Wait until spring to sign. If he has a great year he may get even higher than Texas A&M.

Mizzou and Texas A&M appear to be his only two offers. Blecher and Reese are following him.

He's bulked up some, listed at 6'7/215. Shoots almost 63% from the field, 11.5/9. 75% from FT. Indian Hills is 13-2 and has games scheduled through the end of the month. Interesting local product to track.

I would still like him. He is that undersized 4 that we need.
