Didn’t quit. Suspended by the coaching staff.

Left the team!

Yes, this changed the next day. Guess the coaching staff couldn’t get him on the same page. Did find it interesting that Mosely said something about focusing on coaching the 13 guys that wanted to be there. Uncoachable? That never translates well.

There's a difference between what you said and what Mosley said.
You used the phrase, "wanted to be there."
Mosley said, "I'm going to focus on the 13 guys who are still on my team.”

He is just saying Payton is not on the team anymore therefore it would be wasted efforts to spend time worrying about him. Not that Payton didn't "want" to be there as you suggest.

Not sticking up for Payton, just want to be fair to what was said.

Maybe Dan knew more than we did, and that is why he is not going to be a Redbird. Maybe it was no longer an option for Mr Payton to be a Redbird. He’s all yours SIU.

:text-+1: Imagine that, more to the story.

Sorry misquote. Was going off the top of my head. Didn’t have the article in front of me. But don’t you think if he “wanted” to be there he would still be on the team?

Not necessarily. I bet Bryant Allen and Geoffrey Allen still wanted to be on the team. I bet Teddy Hawkins' never "wanted" to be sent home from Spain. Things just don't work out. To your point, if he wanted to be on the team, perhaps he would have taken the steps necessary to not get kicked off. It's possible he thought, "I'm a D1 player and can do whatever I want and still be on the team." Mosley probably didn't agree.

Very possible. It seems like such an odd time to just quit. I know there has been issues all year, but didn’t think he would ever just say nope I’m done. Especially on a team that has state potential. Good on Mosely if that’s the case. Heard nothing but positive things about him as a coach and as a man.

don't see a comments section on the article but I think I did when I first read it.

For me, comments weren't available when I went to the article via the link. Comments were there when I went to Panty site and navigated to article.

Comments basically telling CP to grow up, fix the attitude, and quit getting high.

I have a friend who follows Bloomington and he had told me he was a head case, from back when we had signed him. Wasn't surprised by this and thinks we dodged a bullet

And Chris has his head screwed on straight by comparison to Charles, the older brother.

I’ll take 5 Milik’s and take my chances. You have to accept baggage at our level to have a chance at success, or completely suck. Those are the choices.
