Just a gut feeling from watching numerous games on tape, it may take John a month or two to adjust to D1, but by conference season he will be the point guard we have been hoping for since Nic Moore left. As talented as Moore was, and he sure passed the eye test out of the box, but it even took him a few months to adjust.
The early bumps and bruises will make him better 🙏

Any clue the last Mr Basketball of any state that we got out of high school?
Mike VandeGuarde and Skip Schaefbauer were All Minneapolis Metro Player of the Year, but I can’t think of any Mr Basketball. Eric Bush (I think) was Indiana Co Mr Basketball, but he never put on a Redbird uniform. Was highly anticipating seeing he play for the Birds.
Nic Moore was runner-up Indiana Mr. Basketball.

If you want to change the direction and culture of the basketball program John Kinziger is the point guard from day 1. Sure he'll take his lumps. Who doesn't? He's unselfish with the ball and gets everyone else involved. He's not out there to get "his". He's all about the W. If this is the Pedon playbook we got our guy.

Headline in Green Bay Press-Gazette (behind a paywall) that almost made me spit out my coffee this morning:

De Pere basketball star ends up in hospital one day after winning title

Turns out it was the younger brother, who had appendicitis symptoms and had to have it removed after returning to DePere from Madison. See if this gets you to the article.

Don't suppose this is any unexpected news, but Kinziger was a unanimous choice to AP 5 member all-state hoops first team.

He was not, however, picked for player of the year, that went to Iowa St. signee Milan Momcilovic from Pewaukee. Pretty sad when you lead your team to an undefeated season and win the largest division championship and not get player of the year. A little Milwaukee bias to give it to the big-city kid?
