JR inactive today. Looks like he won't be back with Jets next year. His former team is probably maing playoffs.. Hope his agent can find him a better fit next season.

This article pretty much sums it up. If JR picks up a few more yards then the Jets owe the Jags a 5th-round draft pick instead of a 6th-round pick. JR did not impress the Jets coaching staff that much and they are going with other running backs. Yes, I think JR is going to be looking for another team for next season but right now the Jets have no reason to play him. It would just likely cost them a higher draft pick and his on-field production is not making it worth that.

The business side of trades structured like this really sucks .. especially in situations like this one. The Jets have an ulterior motive for not playing him, and effectively ruining his season, and possibly his career. I obviously get it is the Jets choice to give RB reps to whoever they think gives them best chance to win. But when a team clearly stops playing someone just to save a single round on a pick, that is just a terrible thing to do to any player who is healthy and otherwise working hard for reps.

Obviously I know this happens, but one would hope a team that traded specifically to get a player, would ultimately do "right" by that player .. assuming he was healthy and still working hard, etc. Now I realize the Jets could say, he wasn't earning the reps. But the truth of the matter is this .. the Jets most certainly stopped playing JR entirely because of this trade clause.

Players union ought to look into restricting these trade clauses to situations it was intended to protect teams, and not intending to screw players. I think it's clear, the Jets would be playing him some if not for this dubious clause. And JR has every right to be pissed off. They are messing with his career because of this trade clause.

Good window into how the margin between "making it" and being a "regular citizen" is very thin. Gotta have the right situation, right coaches, right competition, etc. etc. You lose your footing in one place, and it's no picnic climbing back up elsewhere. Go show 'em, JRob!!
well stated, and what i was trying to get at .. you just don't know if/when that next good opportunity will emerge.

I guess the other part of my point is

well stated, and what i was trying to get at - you just don't know if/when that next opportunity will come. Some people are like Urban Meyer and assume speed kills.
According to pro-football-reference.com, the OC at Jax in 2020 was Jay Gruden, RB coach was Terry Robiskie. Keep an eye on them, JR!

Career so far. 514 carries. 4.4 avg. 18 TD's. Those are GOOD numbers and separate him from most other candidates who have not worn an NFL uniform. He'll find a spot somewhere...IF...he keeps his mouth shut and understands this is a biz. But like you guys have implied...it's timing and people involved. Yes youre getting screwed right now but wait on the timing, kid. It might bring you 5+ more years in the league.
