So, dude had a THIRTY fantasy point night last night, which will put him in the top 7 overall RBs in fantasy. His 340 scrimmage yards and 3 TD in 3 games makes him the only undrafted player in NFL history to surpass 300 yards and at least one score in their first 3 games.

This dude is going to not only win Rookie of the Year, but is on pace to make the pro bowl.

How on EARTH did 30 teams pass on him SEVEN times?! Stupid bears.
The Jags RB coach was pushing his team hard to draft him and they still didn't. His combine forty killed his chances .. and now he will teach them a lesson !!!

Side note, on his 2nd TD run from week 3 highlights, I saw him actually get excited and flex his muscles after the run ... I don't think he ever did that at ISU even once. Most times, he did the asian bow thing with a WR or QB Davis. But aside from that, he typically just yawned and jogged off the field as if he was thinking, I think it's time to go to the sideline for a bit.

"When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before." Paul Brown, Vince Lombardi, or Joe Paterno, depending on who's quoting it.

In any case, I always admired this about James. For the record, endzone celebrations don't bother me. I just tend to like the guys that don't, more.

The only thing that makes me sick is watching how natural he looks catching the ball out of the backfield. How come we didn't do that more? He should've been making 4 - 5 catches a game here. Boy, that was a missed opportunity. I know during his career he looked like he could catch, but we just didn't get it to him as much.

I thought the exact same thing? Like when did he ever do something like that!

I think James may be surprising himself a bit and getting prompted by all the love from teammates ... and the press. I'm going to assume he is still the same humble guy.

I agree with this. I missed his touchdown last night by I did notice that one of his teammates was beside him as he flexed. I'm sure most of them are very excited for him and telling him that he deserves to celebrate. He is a very humble, quiet guy who has never looked to be in the spotlight or center of attention. He goes out on the field, does his job, and then goes to the sideline. At the coach's show where he was player guest last year Brock talked about how he had to practically beg James to come because James isn't comfortable being interviewed/on the radio. I really think a big part of that is that he doesn't see him self as someone special. He sees himself as a guy that just goes out and tries his hardest, like most of us should be doing in our daily lives. I think this is what makes me so happy for him. Just a good guy proving all the NFL scouts wrong.

Robinson may have changed the game for everyone. Burner speed is SO much less important than being able to find and hit the hole for 5 or 6 yards. If you are backed up to your goalline, the first 6 yards are more important than the last 94.

What's really impressed me about James in the pros is his ability to catch the ball. Of course, at ISU we never really utilized the RB in the passing game and that was a critique of James coming out. Last night on the same possession he had 2 catches, one was a check down that he looked dead to rights almost immediately, ended up making a guy miss and getting 9. Then there was a a designed screen pass where he could've gotten caught in the back field but made a move and went for 7 or so. Really impressed with James and excited for him to show out for Redbird Nation. This will only help recruiting.

How on earth we didn't use his pass catching in the under routes more when we couldn't throw a football for most of his college career is beyond me. That's just bad gameplanning and misevaluation of talent.

Lack of creativity among our OCs. That's been my complaint since Roberson/Copprich left. Very boring. predictable offensive sets.

Correct. This is Madden 101 shit. If you make your feature back a threat to take 8 yard chunks of grass on under routes every other play, they are forced to pull a safety down to keep an eye on him. If that safety is pulled far enough down, you are 1 on 1 every time on either side of the field beyond 20 yards.

JR is an excellent football player. im not the least bit surprised by his success. Some guys just understand the game and it propels them to success despite what the brilliant scouts deem as shortcomings (speed).

also---the speed questions were/are just stupid. Put the damn tape on and see how he moves. scouts and GMs outthink themselves too often and JR is another example of this.

lost in all of this is that he was ready mentally. Jay Gruden has a playbook that's about 27,000 pages thick. JR understood that to the point they were comfortable with him starting and knowing the system. Once he was given that opportunity its over. this is his job for the next 8 years barring injury (knock wood)

You know even if scouts did watch film of Robinson I'm sure they would just dismiss it by saying "yeah he can break those tackles in college but it will be a different story when he goes up against the best athletes in the world in the NFL."

Nope, still same story.

JR Offensive Rookie of the Month!!

For those degenerates out there like me...you can now get JR on a futures bet to win OROY at +700 on Draft Kings and +950 on Fan Duel. He went from off the board to the third highest favorite.

James enters Fantasy week 4 as the #5 RB in the league and the #22 overall points scorer in the league. He is now rostered in 95% of leagues and starting in 88%.

How on earth I didn't take him in the 16th will haunt me till my final days.

Did you catch the statement from the color guy that Shelby Harris was from the same University as James Robinson? Got to love it
