When James O was here I remember him being a really good pass catcher. I didn't really notice how well he blocked. I figured if he'd make it in the NFL it would be more for his pass catching skills. He probably doesn't have elite TE speed but I seem to remember him catching a lot of balls downfield for us.

He straight threw a guy 6 feet out of bounds in Frisco. He singlehandedly pulled us back into that game when we were down 2 scores in the early 4th quarter. The kid is a beast.

He was a pass catcher indeed in college, but that is because the system didn't need a blocker. The read option worked better if James was out in a route spreading the field, something he did well if not great. But he is a big dude and regularly throws key blocks for James. Usually when you see a JR highlight, JO is there with a hat on a guy.

O'shaughnessy could do it all at TE. In fact, he was very under-utilized as a pass-catcher at ISU and could have been much more prolific as pass-catcher. Having Roberson and Coprich certainly contributed to his neglect as pass catcher, but like many offenses, we keep forgetting the TE position are eligible receivers.

But he could definitely block and was also a phenomenal special teamer with his size and speed. And he was great young man. The NFL knew his potential despite not getting numbers and lost in the fact that we had a phenomenal offense group that year. 3 players not names Roberson or Coprich have made their mark in NFL.

With about 7 minutes left in the game, James has 67 yds. on 12 carries. Had a TD and a 26 yd run called back by penalties. Jags taking it on the chin again, lots of passing now late.

Went out late with an ankle injury, looked bad at first, but walked off on his own power w/o limping much. Not a big day with numbers, but had a superb pass catch for TD.

How is it possible that J.R. Is #3 in the entire NFL in rushing yards, trailing only Derrick Henry and Dalvon Cook? The Jaga are so bad that they constantly trail by 17-20 points in the second quarters and have to abandon the run earlier than if their games were competitive until the end.

That means Robinson has more yards rushing than Aaron Jones of the Packers and Adrian Peterson of the Lions.

I know there was some optimism on this thread for a while that JRob would be pro bowl, but you know, it's a club to a large degree (players and coaches), and undrafted free agents aren't full members yet. The story's great, but made for TV, not pro bowl vote.

For crissakes, if you're following it, Khalil Mack made the pro bowl. Now, I'm glad the Bears have him, but no one can honestly claim he's having a pro bowl season!!

Not a Pro Bowl pick ..... very disappointing. He seemed to deserve it.
I believe it is a fan vote. Redbird fans and Jags fans alone couldn't get him in. Despite his excellent numbers for a UFA, the flashy guys are always going to get the nod. Which is why Jefferson, WR from Minnesota is going to be ROY, though James 100% deserves it on story, alone.

"Everything" was changed due to covid, but I believe the vote is 1/3 fans, 1/3 players, 1/3 coaches. Unless it was changed!! ;)

IMO he’ll get in eventually. They have tons of players drop out, get hurt, COVID positive, playing in Super Bowl, etc, etc. Sucks he didn’t get in right now but pretty likely he’ll end up being selected as a replacement.

Being in Baltimore, I watched the Jags/Ravens game this past Sunday. On back to back plays O'Shaughnessy caught a pass and Robinson caught one too. That has to be a 1st in Redbird football history. On the local news leading up to the game, I must have heard 5 times the sportscaster say the Ravens had to contain James Robinson, undrafted free agent from Illinois State. Go Birds!

AFC running backs selected were
Derick Henry
Nick Chubb
Josh Jacobs

Jacob's Stats
907 yards
3.7 available per attempt
10 Tds
33 receptions for 238 yards
13 games

James Robinson' stats
1,070 yards
4.5 yards per carry
10 tds
49 receptions
344 yards
14 games

I think there is a good argument James is worthy vs Jacobs

JRob listed among USA Today's notable pro bowl snubs:

2021 Pro Bowl snubs: Most noteworthy NFL all-star exclusions (usatoday.com)

The Jaguars might be steamrolling toward the No. 1 overall selection in the 2021 NFL draft, but Robinson, an undrafted rookie, has been a revelation. Robinson is No. 3 in the NFL in rushing yardage (1,070) behind the Tennessee Titans' Derrick Henry and Minnesota Vikings' Dalvin Cook, and just ahead of three other running backs who made the Pro Bowl (Aaron Jones, Nick Chubb and Josh Jacobs).
