Discussion in today's Minneapolis Star-Tribune about Offensive Rookie of the Year candidates. They are "pulling" for Vikings WR Justin Jefferson, or course. Pretty gaudy stats Mr. Robinson is up against. At least he's in the discussion!:

Looks like hopes of JR winning ROY are shrinking. He’s been officially ruled out of the game against Chicago tomorrow.

Jags just clinched the #1 pick for next year. That's gotta be great for JR with Trevor Lawrence soon to be arriving. Could be a fun team to watch next year.

Some nice coverage of Robinson and ISU in the Chicago Tribune today (you have to scroll down to #8). I particularly liked this part:

Robinson’s success is a testament to the success Spack has had at ISU, which also produced Jaguars tight end James O’Shaughnessy, a Naperville North product, and former Bears wide receiver Cameron Meredith. Cornerback Tre Roberson, whom the Bears placed on the non-football injury list before the season after he starred in the CFL, is another former ISU standout. The Redbirds have made real gains in state in the last decade, producing as much as Illinois in the way of NFL talent.
“When you go to the two schools, you wouldn’t know the difference when you’re standing at practice,” the national scout said. “You might get more excited by the bodies at Illinois State. It’s closer than it should be.”

This was an amazing season for Robinson and probably locks him in as the bellcow starter for the Jaguars for 2021. He is going to be working with Trevor Lawrence next year.

How do we think Robinson grows working in the same backfield with the highest rated QB prospect since John Elway?

You could be right about James, should be right, I hope you're right, but I see the Jags fired their coach, so now James will have to impress someone new. Hopefully it will work out.

The ONLY player getting ANY press on that team this year was James Robinson. He has sold jerseys and made money for the Khan family. Further, he has saved the GM the worry of having to draft an NFL ready RB in the top 3 rounds because he found one in the scrap heap. I would personally be stunned if he weren't on Lawrence's hip to start the year next year.

I think if James would've played the last two games, and gotten 100 all purpose yards and a TD in each, he would've been Offensive Rookie of the Year. I think Justin Jefferson deserves it but it'll probably go to Herbert.

Anyway, here's a cool new shirt you can buy: Men's Homage James Robinson Gray Illinois State Redbirds Football Player Tri-Blend T-Shirt
I want that to be the case too, but the voters consider RBs 3rd class citizens in voting like that.

Case and point: Derrick Henry has 2050 yards and 15 TD and is the captain of a playoff team. He won't finish higher than 4th for MVP because QBs exist.

Trevor Lawrence is gonna be a great fit there. Look for them to sign a big WR free agent and draft a couple too. Their OL is actually good when healthy. I see Robinson being a solid fixture in the back field and actually being used quite a bit. Hoping James OShaunnassey sticks there too. They need Pass Rushers on Jacksonville

They need lots of things there. 3 of those losses were intentional tank losses, but they actively tried to win most of their games and just have so many holes. They need defensive tackles, edge rushers, safeties, guards, quarterbacks, a TE, a WR. Because of the Jalen Ramsey trade, they have SEVEN of the top 121 picks in the draft, though, including 4 picks in the first 2 rounds. Jacksonville is going to pick up a TON of talent. I have them going 7-9 next year and then probably being a force in 2022.
