Damn Jags picked RB Travis Etienne from Clemson in first round. Former ISU assistant Urban Meyer not a fan of Redbird James Robinson???

JRob didn't deserve that. Life's a bitch and then you die.

Agreed that it’s BS. JR proved himself last season. From the jags perspective, teaming up a couple of dudes in the backfield that have already spent significant time together could only be seems as a positive. I’m sure James keeps a role in some capacity. Third down back? Who knows.

Totally different runners - JR will still start - they talked about getting another speed RB in the draft - getting that guy there is a smart pick for the Jags

If they run JRob like they did last year this might be his last year in the league. No one can take that pounding. I am happy they got someone to compliment him.

I'm with Madbird, dogged with negative thoughts. Jags had bigger needs than another Running back. There's a reason why they suck. If they drafted a RB in the first round then they'll be using him a lot. RB's have been declining in value over the years, but hopefully they'll be like a thunder and lightning kind of combo.

And they are flirting with signing Tebow as a TE?!??!? What about J Roc?

Maybe Butch & Sundance. Worked out well for the Phins.

The new pick is a speed back and catch RB. Don't know that he blocks as well as JR. Regardless, JR proved he can play in the Leaque!

Urban has been known to make mistakes...initially hiring the former strenght coach at Iowa b4 Jag players and owner said I don't think so.

Lol at people on this board thinking there is some pipeline for ISU to the Jaguars. Clearly that is inaccurate!

You've raised that issue before and appear quite concerned about that comment. Maybe "pipeline" is an overstatement but I think the Jaguars are happy with Robinson and O'Shaughnessy and if there was another player from Illinois State that interested them they wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger.

I was impressed that QB Trey Lance of NDSU was the overall #3 pick. I think most of the NFL now "gets it." The FCS has NFL ready players and a lot of them are in the Valley.

It is the NFL. Everyone's job is up for grabs. The Packers drafted a QB to eventually replace Rodgers and predictably the ultimate prima donna had a meltdown that continues. (I acknowledge Rodgers's tremendous talent but just have to hate all things Green and Gold). JR has proved he can play at a pretty high level in the NFL but the team last year was awful. A new coaching staff and new outlooks and they have to make changes after that awful record. One thing JR does not have is breakaway speed. It looks like the new Jag has that in abundance. Maybe they intend to compliment JR with the speed back or maybe they want to go in a new direction. Again, it is the NFL, you are only as good as your last game. Either way, I believe JR will be playing on Sunday next season whether it is in Jacksonville or somewhere else. I was a bit more surprised about the Tebow experiment. I guess it shows that maybe Urban does have some loyalty to even give him a chance. It is going to be interesting to watch.

Sure.

It appears that you get it.

I think Meyer just wants to compliment JR, not replace him. JR is great at moving chains. There's no way Meyer wants to replace that. If he does and just for the sake if speed, well than agreed ... and that would be stupid.

Just means a few less reps in exchange for more Ws !!
