Melinda Fischer is rare in the coaching world. She plays, consistently, one of the toughest schedules in the nation. Often times, at the end of the year, you see 10-15 opponents (or more) make the NCAA tournament or half the teams in the WCWS having been on ISU"s schedule. This is one of those teams, if its goes .500 in the non-conference, that is has a great shot of making the NCAA tournament.
USF was receiving votes, and their started we shelled is on the NCAA PoTY watch list to start the season.
Up next: #14 Michigan and #7 Florida today. Win one of those two games, and it's huge.
Well we took it on the chin after USF game but we played tough vs ranked Michigan and Florida - gave Fresno (who I believe will be ranked in top 25 by mid season) a tough one too. In the finale we were even with Georgia State then our pitching imploded some and we got handled. But great competion to start the season
