This is great. I know some younger families that will absolutely take advantage of this. With little ones, it can be a challenge to go through the process of getting the car loaded, making sure you have everything packed, setting up, etc. With this, you can just find some street parking and walk up. Very cool.

Will they require everyone who purchase this to also purchase tickets to the game?
Will season ticket holder’s have priority over non-season ticket holder’s?
Should everyone who purchase’s this be required to purchase tickets to the game?

This is a fun idea that makes a lot of sense. Been trying to plan a get together with folks who moved out of state and this would take out a lot of the leg work.

There is nothing to purchase. It's free. So I assume the answers are:

For fans looking to create a premium tailgate experience in front of Hancock Stadium, Redbird Row will feature eight premium tailgate spaces to be purchased on a first-come, first-served basis. Redbird Row provides a turn-key solution for fans on game days with a 20' x 20' premium space, one (1) 20' x 10' tent, two (2) 6' tables, and two (2) high top round tables. Rental of these premium spaces also comes with two (2) parking passes in a lot near your tailgate. Redbird Row will be closed to vehicular traffic south of the Hancock Stadium marquee to create this fanfest area just off Main Street. Additional tailgating gear, food and beverage will need to be brought in with you from your parking location. Packages can be upgraded with the ability to rent additional tables, chairs, and cooler with ice. Redbird Row spaces are designed to let fans have the best tailgate spots around the stadium with none of the work involved with setting up and tearing down.

Redbird Row tailgate packages are suggested for groups of 40 tailgaters. Pricing for the premium tailgate set up for Redbird games versus Valparaiso (9/10) and Eastern Illinois (9/17) are $400 each ($10pp), Family Weekend versus Southern Illinois (10/1) and Homecoming versus South Dakota (10/15) are $500 each ($12.50pp) with games versus Youngstown State (11/5) and Western Illinois (11/19) at $300 each ($7.50pp). Group ticket pricing for all Redbird Football games is available.

If you are talking about where you can purchase an already set-up tailgate area my guess would be that it might come with some tickets. I don't think people should be required to purchase tickets though. I think one of the big things with having this in the lot on Main St is so people realize it is game day, they see the fun atmosphere and want to be around it. It isn't just about the game, it is about a fun thing to do at ISU.

Also, this prices out students who are usually tailgating without going to the game. If folks come give ISU $400 to have a good time they likely are gonna spend to be in the stadium as well.

Reminds me of how my buddy from green bay tailgates. He will pack food and beer but no grill. Says someone always has a grill he can use. At the tailgate says to a neighbor he forgot his grill and can he use their grill. We go back to playing bags and the neighbor with a grill ends up flipping our burgers and turning our brats. They tell us when our food us done. Works like a charm every time. Never need to mess with a grill ever again.

I have never really grilled at an ISU game. It's always been Gondolas. Much easier and when you live in Wisconsin you get tired of brats. My hope is the "food for purchase" is a line of food trucks but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

We have food trucks in Blono, but I'm not sure "a line" of them is what we have. But yeah, that would be a good way to get some local businesses involved.

At Brugula Beer fest in recent years, they've had the outfield lined with local food trucks. I'd say probably 5-7 of them. I like the idea, it could really work out nicely. I'm sure it'd be profitable for those trucks, too.

This seems like a really good idea ... it creates a buzz and a fun convenient hangout right outside the entrance for 2 1/2 hours before game time. Plus the team walk-by will add some excitement. I doubt tailgaters will change their habits, but this is great idea for non tailgaters, especially families w/ kids. Some will start to arrive earlier for the game just to hang out, and see the team walk thru.

Time will tell .. but this seems like an awesome "pre-game" idea for any non tail gater.
