How much of it was because they had all the athletes honored at halftime or the drum line. I don't sit close enough, but other than the smaller group that sits in the lower corner, were there other students joining in? Other than the Blaze girls, too.
Not sure how much those circumstances played a part but as a group they seemed to get more and more into it as the game went on. At first you had a lot of them sitting behind Trevor & his guys but by the second half it seemed like everyone was standing and energized.

Or
Man it's even gotten to the point that our student section knows our shot-clock defective condition and they'll start chanting the countdown at the 10 second mark...just so our team is aware!
Or, start counting 5 when it gets to 10 😉

In the OT they finally started driving the ball to the basket instead of doing the side to side hand off. Was that because of a change in UIC defense or a deliberate move on our part? Regardless, that was the difference in ot...score or go to the line.

Did the Birds play the BU/SIU lineup( Mal at point, Luke @ 2, Seneca@3, Lewis @4 and Sissoko/Kotov @5 ) at all against UIC? I know it can be about matchups but i don’t get it. It seems like UIC should be a team where Birds dictate the type of players on the floor, a great opportunity to get Sissoko/Kotov rolling. Points are needed, but you also need rebounds, need defensive stops, need to value the ball possessions and limit marginal shoots. All things that it felt like the Birds did much better at BU and against SIU. The combination of role players and go-too guys on the floor felt in balance against the Braves/Dogs, back to the past and everybody looking for their own shots against UIC 🤷‍♂️

It helps when the opposing team brings a section of “Road Dawgs” and needs help spelling “I-S-U” when they chant.

We’re definitely getting a more prime cut of student these days than our directional brethren.

Im happy to see the student section get back into it.
When I was at school 04-08 we stood the whole time, were aggressively harassing other players, always in it. Now everyone just sits on their phones. It seems like people are starting to finally stop being in their phones 24/7. I mean obviously close games and then eventually just being good will up the participation (hopefully).
When I was a student, we had to walk uphill to the game in three feet of snow, only to find we could have followed Lamb and Cornley and had the path cleared for us.

I don’t want to start a new recruiting thread and haven’t seen if this was mentioned but Zack Hawkinson out of Springfield (2023 kid) was in attendance.
Doesn’t look like he has his win recruiting thread but Hawkinson is headed to D2 North Georgia.
