If the roster is set, Can we count on improved coaching, game planning, and such?

So it seems we have the players. Summer workouts are in motion. What will coaches do differently to improve the results on the court?

I'd be in favor of the Norman Dale "passing rule" - gotta move the ball more, stop the one man show/dribble and shoot.
I'm with you on this. When I watched the NCAA tourney, the one thing that stood out was all of the teams were really good at sharing the ball. I always feel like we are not good at this early in the season.

And often not late in the season.

Do we have players who can defend the perimeter?
Kinda don’t know at this point. Didn’t have any players excel at it last year, and new players are still unknown to us. We’ve got a head coach who was a defensive standout, but we know he can’t teach it or get his players to buy in to it. We’ve got a defensive specialist on the staff now, but not sure he can teach it or get the players to buy in. We’ve got a player/skill development coach on staff now, but not sure D is a specialty of his.

Dislike all you want you know were around a 10 win team again.

We have no idea what is coming. This spring seemed a logical time to change coaches, it didn't happen. Now some interesting new players, sounds like dynamic new assistant. Gonna go with the glass half-full without delusions and hope for the best.

Seems counterintuitive for a "fan" to root against the team or coach.

But here we are.

I have to believe we are in for more of the same. Lame game planning, slow defense, Glaring weakness at one position at least and no way to compensate for it. I was watching the thread on recruiting and saw excitement. That is expected I guess. However, recent history has taught me not to get too encouraged. I was hoping some one had some inside info on one or two of our new players. You know, immediate all valley, prolific scorer, Cat quick on D. I can hope I guess.

The answer for the OP is that, sadly, it is extremely unlikely that we’ll see much in the way of good basketball until there is a coaching change. Not that Dan couldn’t catch lightning in a bottle with a fresh start elsewhere, but he’s dug himself such a terribly large hole that It’s cringe worthy.

This team will be better than last year. The new assistant has done more in a couple months than the guy he replaced ever did. The problem is with the MVC so strong a much improved Redbird team probably still is a lock for Thursday. So, I see improvements across the board, but not enough to save Dan’s job. I think he needs 5th or better to stay another year.

We might have better talent on the floor but the HC is still the same and if he hasn't picked it up after all these years I fail to think there will be much improvement. I would love to be wrong but too many Thursday nights in a row have not given me much hope.
