Once 5 star recruit backs his bags...very disappointing.

Dissapointed to hear about Tyree Horton. Now it's time for some young linebackers to step up.

It is disappointing to see someone blessed with such physical gifts squander the opportunities that come from it. I hope he gets control of whatever demons he's dealing with.

Very disappointing .. Spack obviously has his reasons. LB group was supposed to be a strength returning from a year go compared to DL and DB groups .. we only loss Bruce Holm; then Barry Brannon decided he would forego his 5th year, and now this. But we are now down to 1 returning starter from the defense .. DE Jason Harris. Going to need juco transfer JR Paul Engram to really step up into a starting role very quickly.

Spack has rebuilt his defense twice before ... first was after 2010 season when he took the DC reins back over from DC Elmassian and transformed the defense from bottom 10 to top 10 in FCS by 2011; including from last to first in MVFC in total defense. Second was 2013 mid-season .. we were giving up 40+ points per game the first 6 games and dropped to 16 points per game the last 5 games.

Might be a slow start defensively ... need to be sitting 4-1 (or better) walking into game 5 (week 6) for MVFC home opener against WIU ready to step things up on defense ... that is when the MVFC grind starts.

Coach Spack seems to be confident with the linebackers, but of course Horton was an impact player. Apparently it was a series of not doing things the Redbird way - no one event.

Doubt if he walked away from football with the talent he has. Google him in a month and he will probably be on someone's FBS roster! Has anyone ever broke up with a girl and she told everyone she dumped you?

Wow, I'm bummed. I think he was one of our best 4 players and my favorite player to watch. Loved watching him hit. Reminds me of how I felt when Demarco Corbin was dismissed.

I don't think it's that at all. Sounds very much like a situation where a player thought he was above the team rules. That he happened to be one of your best players should put to rest questions about the standards Spack employs wrt to every single player.

You seriously think Tyree Horton looked at Coach Spack in June and said "I'm out?" knowing it would effectively be the last time he'd ever play organized football? I mean, don't get me wrong, there is an outside chance the CFL, the XFL or the AAF (Jesus Christ is there ever going to be a lot of bad pro football this year) call up with a chance to try out, but Horton REALLY needed to have an All-MVC season to have a shot at getting into an NFL camp.

His track record suggests he thought his star rating was more important than team or school rules. ISU coaches typically don't deal with that garbage.
