Defense killing us in the third inning... ball off the leg of Sokolove in center field allowing 2 runners to advance into scoring position on a ball the Cermak might have been able to catch. Sokolove did follow that misplay up with a nice heads up play to throw the runner out at third trying to advance from second on a single. Then later in the inning, Darr drops a ball in right field that he lost in the sun. 4-1 Boilermakers after 3.

Hate to pile on here, but Sokolove dropped one in center in the fourth. Not exactly routine but one that you'd like to make nonetheless. Hard to think Cermak wouldn't have come up with that one. Able to escape the inning without any damage.
Headed to extras after an 8th inning rally puts the 'birds up 6-5 before the Boilermakers start the 9th with a triple (maybe slightly misplayed by Sokolove) and eventually scored on a groundout. Putting up a great fight so far trying to overcome 4 early errors. Not sure what our bullpen depth is looking like right now, but Mabee should be available. We have already used Hart, Scherbenske, and Kubiatowicz.

Really tough finish to the game. Soberano drills a pitch well over the fence but just foul with 2 runners on in the 10th. Then in the bottom half, Soberano slips after fielding a grounder and is unable to make the throw allowing the runner to reach. Purdue walks it off later with 2 outs in the inning. Tough loss to fall to 7-8. Next up is UIC at home on Wednesday.
