For the life of me, I don’t understand why we don’t schedule like Texas Southern does…. playing high level P5 programs on the road (without the demand of a return game). I mean, the visibility alone would be worth it.
Just think if we catch lightning in a bottle once in a while and upset a top ten team? We’ve come close in the past and still talk about it (Louisville, Maryland, Kentucky, etc.).
Additionally, I have to imagine many kids’ being recruited have the following cares (likely in order)…

1. Can this program get me to the NBA?
2. What kind of playing time am I looking at?
3. Who are we playing and will we be on tv?

We can easily offer #2. If we could also offer #3, by scheduling “up” we could possibly entice higher caliber players.

I know it’s hard to schedule, but if Muller is demanding a home and home or we’re not playing Illinois, for example, then he is ego-driven and completely unrealistic.
Personably, I find it extremely difficult to get excited about any of these non-con games we have scheduled.
Seriously, do any of you have any of these games circles in anticipation?

Lastly, and unrelated, our ISU merch offering is embarrassing. Who is in charge of these items and why are they stuck in the 80’s?

Muller had a better argument for a home and home with in 2016. I was behind his rationale then, but program parity shortly came to a grinding halt with both teams taking on different trajectories. [Such a shame Mikyle McIntosh stepped out of bounds against UCF!]

Thank you for bringing up our paltry merch offering. There is nothing but the same maddening selection of generic, unbranded crap on Amazon. Do our bozo administrators know that branding, merch, and fashion help drive perception of the institution?

I swear our merch is one step above left over 1986 Spuds McKenzie spring break crap.
I have been looking forever for some decent Redbird golf swag and it’s basically non-existent.
Who can we direct complaints to?
Maybe this should be a separate thread…

Couldn’t agree more. Constantly looking to upgrade some Redbird gear in the wardrobe and it’s the same old stuff.

I don’t get it.

Don't we have some fashion design program we can enlist to get free ideas? I mean are the 18-22 year olds really liking the garbage that's out there? Couldn't they get each kid or group of kids to design a shirt (so say you got like 20 or 30 of them) and then the top 5 sellers each get a $500 scholarship or something? Anything inventive for some student involvement. Probably illegal by NCAA rules to be inventive and fashionable though.

Go to a bookstore or pro shop at any major university and copy what they do.
When Clemson won their championships in football would stop there on my way back from Florida in the winter because my wife likes them!
Their store/stores are amazing!!!

My youngest is looking at colleges in AZ. I expected ASU and UofA bookstores to be impressive…they were. However, NAU’s bookstore rivaled UofA’s and makes ours look like…well, what it is…an embarrassment.

My daughter went to Marian in Indy. My niece went to Franciscan in Steubenville. I live near Carthage. Pretty small schools. All of their stores beat ours. Kill ours!!! And it is an embarrassment.

The new store in the Union looks good and is in a better location. But it's the same old same old.

Good Lord, I must be really really old school - are we really criticizing the goddam sweatshirts and T-shirts that are for sale? That is important to anyone? What are you wanting to see that you can't get???

I mean, have you ever been to bookstores on other campuses? I don’t think the complaining about ISU having a better selection of gear is that big a problem. I can’t even get a decent ISU hat these days.

You probably are really old school
And old and crabby it seems.
