We seem to be failing in every conceivable way.
I do think this is partly because of the way the department has been structured. It seems every day that someone who works in the department is leaving. The marketing staff is down to around two people. Same with fundraising. The majority of people working for ISU are now 24 years old or have no experience and keep getting promoted. Some of this is just reaping what’s been sowed. Less staff members, less experience, younger, and an administration that is trying to flip it quick and take new jobs. We are seeing ISU Athletics fall into a hole that won’t be easy to dig out of.

So let’s get rid of the piped in music. Bring back the band at every break. No DJ because we already have a live band. And, then everything else that made Horton an experience in the 1980s. Maybe we can go back to the future and be a winning ball club again. Use a little ingenuity, like getting a couple ropes, get a sponsor, throw in a little free food and maybe borrow a basketball for a half court shot. I may even buy season tickets again. Seriously my game experience is not enhanced by the DJ and piped in music. Yes, I may not be the demographic they are looking for but I do have money that with the right game experience I will part with.
My kids dig the DJ. They like hearing modern songs they know. Turn Down For What is on their playlist; nothing the band plays these days is, and they wouldn’t recognize it anyway if it was.

I enjoy BRMM as much as anyone and am not saying get rid of the band, but if we’re building the bridge to the next generation of fans, the DJ is on that construction crew.
